Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt plays host to the Euro 2024 last-16 tie between Portugal and Slovenia on Monday night (20:00, BBC One), with a quarter-final against either France or Belgium waiting for the winner.

Read below for my Portugal vs Slovenia bet builder tips ahead of just the second-ever meeting between these sides, with the latter emerging surprise 2-0 winners in March's friendly match in Ljubljana.

This selection landed in March as Slovenia sprung a surprise in Ljubljana, with Adam Gnezda Cerin and Timi Max Elsnik scoring the goals for the hosts as they kept out Cristiano Ronaldo and co.

I don't think the Portuguese will be denied again, however, with that game marking Roberto Martinez's first goalless game in charge, and the first time he had failed to oversee a victory.

The second goalless game of his reign came in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Georgia, but the Spaniard made wholesale changes for that game as Portugal were already through to the last 16 as group winners, while their opponents had everything to play for in their attempts to join them in the knockout round.

We should see a more familiar Portugal starting XI on Monday, with the likes of Pepe and Ruben Dias offering proper protection to goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Portugal did concede in their opening group game, going down 1-0 before recovering to steal a 2-1 win in added time, but they shut out Turkey in a 3-0 victory, a clean sheet that looks even more impressive considering the five goals Turkey have scored across their other two matches.

Slovenia went undefeated in the group stage, drawing all three games with Denmark, Serbia (both 1-1) and England (0-0), scoring in their first two before blanking in their third as they opted to play cautiously and bank on three points and a zero goal difference taking them to the last 16, which it did.

They certainly have players that can hurt Portugal, particularly Benjamin Sesko, but the RB Leipzig striker is yet to score at Euro 2024 and both of their goals have come from full-backs, the first a heavily deflected strike from long range.

Slovenia are unlikely to see much of the ball against Portugal, and they will have to be efficient when they do get it.

Ultimately, I see a Portugal win to nil on Monday, but adding A Seleção das Quinas to win doesn't increase the odds, so BTTS - No it is for the first leg of this bet builder.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That seems to have been the motto for the entirety of Ronaldo's career, and he hasn't abandoned that approach heading into his latter years.

The Al-Nassr marksman is the only outfield Portugal player to have started all three Euro 2024 games, but the 39-year-old is yet to score in the competition, despite averaging four shots per game.

It feels like only a matter of time before he does find the net, however, which spells bad news for Slovenia, and all those of an anti-'siiuuu' disposition.
