Portugal vs Belgium Bet Builder Tips: Wullaert to worry Portuguese once more

Following back-to-back defeats to Italy (0-1) and Spain (2-6), Belgium can no longer qualify for the quarter-finals of Euro 2025. However, the Belgian Red Flames can finish third in Group B by beating Portugal on Friday (20:00 BST, BBC iPlayer).

Portugal, on the other hand, can still finish as runners-up, but need to win at the Stade de Tourbillon in Sion, and hope Spain beat Italy, while overturning a six-goal deficit on the Azzurre. Below are my Portugal vs Belgium Bet Builder Tips, ahead of this third head-to-head of the calendar year.

Total Goals Over/Under 3.5 - Over

There were 16 goals scored across the first four games in Group B, with Spain responsible for the majority (11). The Roja thrashed Belgium 6-2 before hammering Portugal 6-0, with those two teams enjoying much less embarrassing scorelines against Italy, losing 1-0 and drawing 1-1, respectively.

Belgium can play with a degree of freedom on Friday as they can no longer qualify for the quarter-finals, while Portugal have to go all out for a big win, as currently, they are three points behind Italy, who boast a +1 goal difference compared to their -5.

As a result, we should see both teams going for goals in Sion, opening up the possibility of over 3.5 strikes.

Over 3.5 goals has landed in four of Portugal's last seven games, and five of Belgium's last eight.

Double Chance - Portugal or Draw

Whether Portugal can secure the win they need to stand a chance of qualifying, I'm not 100% sure, as they could end up overcommitting late on in search of more goals, leaving themselves vulnerable to the Belgian counterattack.

But, I'm confident they can at least avoid defeat against Belgium, who have suffered back-to-back defeats in Switzerland.

Today's Football Fixtures

The Red Flames have been in the red a lot this calendar year, losing seven of their 10 games in 2025.

Granted, Portugal are winless in their last seven matches, which includes a 3-0 defeat to Belgium last month, but it's Francisco Neto's side who have the carrot of qualification to the quarter-finals dangling in front of them, not their opponents, so they should be fired up on Friday.

They have also claimed a victory over Belgium this year, beating them 1-0 in February.

Player to Score at Anytime - Diana Silva (POR)

I'm heading to the anytime goalscorer market for my final two picks.

First up, I'm backing Portuguese forward Diana Silva to get off the mark in Switzerland.

Football Odds

The 30-year-old has scored 26 times for her country and has started both of their group games so far.

After seeing a header blocked against Italy last time out, Silva will hope to get the nod again on Friday and get closer to a goal.

Facing a Belgium side that shipped six to Spain on Monday and five to France last month, she'll be hopeful of adding to her international tally in Sion.

Player to Score at Anytime - Tessa Wullaert (BEL)

I'm also backing Belgium's all-time leading goalscorer, Tessa Wullaert, to open her account at Euro 2025.

The 32-year-old bagged a brace in Belgium's 3-0 win over Portugal in the Uefa Nations League last month, and was on target later in June in a friendly against Greece, off the back of a successful season for Inter Milan.

She scored 10 times in 23 Serie A appearances during her debut campaign in Italy, and after setting up both of Belgium's goals against Spain on Monday, she'll be looking to write her own name onto the scoresheet.
