Porto vs Midtjylland Prediction: Samu can strike again for the hosts

Porto have struggled to build momentum in the Europa League but have a good squad and a fabulous home record, hinting that Midtjylland could be in danger on Thursday. The Danes head to the Estadio do Dragao 20th in the standings, two points and three places ahead of Vitro Bruno's side.
Thomas Thomasberg's visitors won 'away' at Maccabi Tel Aviv in October, albeit at a neutral ground in Belgrade, and look vulnerable heading into this matchday six contest against an outfit boasting one of Europe's most exciting forwards. Read on for my Porto vs Midtjylland prediction, alongside team news and match odds, ahead of this league phase contest on Thursday (20:00, TNT Sports 8).
Porto vs Midtjylland Betting Tips

Porto are without Wendell (muscle), Marko Grujic (heel) and Ivan Marcano (knee), while Joao Mario is expected to be rested due to tendonitis in his right hamstring and Nico Gonzalez is suspended.
Paulinho, Edward Chilufya, Dario Osorio, Franculino and Aral Simsir are among Midtjylland's absentees.

Porto are 3/10 to win the game, giving the hosts an implied win probability of 76.9%, with the draw 9/2 and Midtjylland 17/2 (10.5%).
Both teams to score has landed in five of Porto's last six and is 5/6, while both teams to score two or more goals for the fourth time in the home team's Europa League campaign is 5/1.
Porto to win and over 3.5 goals @ 7/4
Winners of this competition in 2003 and 2011, Porto are the type of side that can go all the way again but need to improve on their mediocre record of one victory, two draws and as many defeats.
Just one win in their last six in all competitions is poor but focus in on their home form and punters will see that they are unbeaten at the Dragao in 2024/25.
They have kept clean sheets in the last four of those and could do so again, with a home win to nil at 23/20.
However, stretching to the 7/4 for a Porto win and over 3.5 goals seems worthwhile considering their home record and that there have been four goals or more in three of their five Europa League matches.
Midtjylland are decent opponents but failed to find the net last month at FCSB and this could be a chance for Bruno's side to open up. A correct score bet of 4-0 appeals at 12/1.

Samu Aghehowa anytime goalscorer @ 1/1
A player expected to play a leading role on Thursday is Porto forward Samu Aghehowa, who has already netted four times in this competition.
The 20-year-old was linked with almost all of Europe's big hitters in the summer but joined the Dragons from Atletico Madrid in a real coup for the Portuguese club.
Tall, strong and skilful, he never lets defenders rest and the visiting rearguard could feel his wrath on Thursday.
Aghehowa is a good price to add to his Europa League tally and more positive punters may even be willing to stretch to the 5/1 for him to score two or more.
