After throwing away a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 to Inter Miami last time out, Porto's place at the Fifa Club World Cup is in doubt. They take on Al Ahly for their final match in Group A on Tuesday (02:00 BST, DAZN) at the MetLife Stadium, with both teams needing to win to have any chance of progressing to the knockout stage.

Below you will find my Porto vs Al Ahly predictions, featuring the latest team news and match odds.

Porto vs Al Ahly Betting Tips

Team News

Porto boss Martin Anselmi continues to tinker with his team despite being six months into the job, so his selections for this fixture are far from certain.

An unfamiliar trio has featured in the back three so far. Fabio Vieira played a defensive midfield role against Inter Miami last time out but players such as Nehuen Perez and Stephen Eustaquio may now be in contention for roles in the engine room.

It remains to be seen if captain Diogo Costa will be able to return between the sticks, as Claudio Ramos has filled in for him in the first two matches at the Club World Cup so far.

Samu Aghehowa netted his 26th goal across all competitions against Inter Miami, and he is set to continue as the spearhead of the Dragons' attack on Tuesday.

Inter Miami vs Palmeiras Stats

  • Palmeiras have won 16 of their last 20 matches
  • Both teams to score has struck in four of Inter Miami's past five games

Al Ahly are missing creative midfielder Emam Ashour, who sustained a broken collarbone on the opening matchday. It was a huge blow for the Egyptian side as Ashour is one of their strongest goal threats.

Former Aston Villa winger Trezeguet and star striker Wessam Abou Ali must share the goal burden as a result. A Denmark-born Palestine international, the latter has netted 33 league goals over the past two seasons, but he found the wrong net against Palmeiras last time out.

As ever, club captain Mohamed El Shanawy - a 36-year-old veteran, capped 64 times by Egypt, will operate in goal. He will hope to guide his side to the knockout stage.

Porto vs Al Ahly Odds

Porto have won seven of their last 11 matches in all competitions and they are 8/11 (which has an implied probability of 57.9%) to come out on top here.

The two sides have both experienced a draw at the CWC so far and the stalemate can be backed at 16/5.

Al Ahly are 18/5 to stun Porto like Inter Miami did, and they have won four of their past seven fixtures in all competitions.

Porto striker Samu Aghehowa leads the anytime goalscorer market at 21/20, and his goal in the last game came from the penalty spot.

Porto to win @ 8/11

Porto are probably still feeling stunned by their defeat to Inter Miami last time out, especially as they took an early lead. The Dragons have left themselves with work to do if they wish to make it to the next stage of the competition.

Anselmi's tinkering is not helping this Porto squad to gel and harmonise but he simply has to lead them to three points here or he could face some tough questions from the board and the supporters if they fail.

Porto started well against Inter Miami before things unravelled in the second half. You'd think lessons will have been learned in time for this final group match and the Dragons know what to do to get the result they need.

Al Ahly will be fired up as they are in the same boat and a win is their best chance of going through. This could make for an interesting encounter in New Jersey as both teams have no choice but to go for it.

I think Porto edge the contest on the quality of their squad and I believe this will lead to a composure we may not see from their opponents. It could end up being a close match, but I fancy the Dragons to do just enough to snatch the victory.

Samu Aghehowa anytime goalscorer @ 21/20

This man was probably the most frustrated after the Inter Miami defeat as he gave Porto the lead inside the opening 10 minutes from the penalty spot. I predicted him to score in that contest, and I think it may be wise to go down this route again.

Agehehowa has had a very productive 2024/25, with 26 goals in all competitions now for the former Atletico Madrid man, while his efforts have not been matched by Porto as a collective.

The Spain international should feel confident after opening his account last time out and there is likely to be an added determination to ensure his contributions lead to three points this time around.

Aghehowa has been a nuisance to defenders all season, and I think Al Ahly are up next to feel his wrath.
