Plymouth vs Cardiff Prediction: Argyle can bag another vital home win

Plymouth Argyle are in desperate need of a win to drag themselves out of danger in the Championship, and next up they host Cardiff City, another side who have slid into the bottom half of the table. Below we have previewed the important clash, and presented a couple of betting angles for you to consider.
Team News
Plymouth have now suffered three major losses in this transfer window. Finn Azaz, Luke Cundle and Kaine Kesler-Hayden have all departed, meaning Ian Foster’s job becomes even more difficult, having only come into the role himself recently. Joe Edwards should come in for Kesler-Hayden on the right, while new arrival Alfie Devine may be thrown in at the deep end having joined on loan from Spurs.
Joe Ralls picked up a groin injury against Leeds so will probably miss this one, with Rubin Colwill and Yakou Meite both likely to return to the XI for Erol Bulut.
Match Odds
Plymouth are 6/5 to win this match on home soil, with Cardiff priced at 11/5 for the three points. A draw is priced at 12/5, BTTS is 8/13 and over 2.5 goals is 8/11.
Plymouth Argyle to win @ 6/5
Plymouth’s survival this season almost entirely depends on how many points they can pick up at home. So far they have the 7th best home record in the division, with seven wins on the board, yet they haven’t managed a single victory on the road. The contrast is stark, but they are playing at Home Park this weekend, and therefore, their chances of victory drastically increase.
Despite the departees, Plymouth will attempt to move forward into a new era under Foster. Cardiff meanwhile are better away from home this term, but I simply believe that Plymouth are a better team at this moment in time. Cardiff have one win in their last five matches, and after a 2-2 draw on Boxing Day in the reverse fixture, Plymouth will fancy their chances on their own patch.
Morgan Whittaker to score first @ 11/2
Plymouth’s star man, and one of the finest players in the Championship this season. Argyle’s survival hopes rest on the shoulders of Morgan Whittaker, who has been simply superb since joining on a permanent transfer this summer after a successful loan spell in the south-west.
He’s incredibly scored 14 Championship goals in 27 games this season, and with the departures, will have to come to the fore again. Plymouth have been great goalscorers on home soil this term, and I believe the 11/2 on offer for Argyle’s star forward to find the net first marks excellent value, in a game I think they should win.
