Plymouth Argyle vs Burnley Prediction: Clarets can claim a comfortable victory

Plymouth pulled off one of the biggest shocks of FA Cup third round weekend with a 1-0 success at home to Premier League Brentford, but they are in danger of getting tailed off at the foot of the Championship and are in desperate need of a victory when hosting promotion-chasing Burnley at Home Park on Wednesday night (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event) .
The Pilgrims have gone 13 league matches without a victory and have seen no obvious improvement under Austrian head coach Miron Muslic, who has started his Argyle tenure with a 1-1 draw at home to Oxford and a 1-0 defeat at home to QPR.
While Plymouth face a tough battle for survival, Burnley are firmly in the mix for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Scott Parker’s Clarets have lost only two of 27 Championship fixtures but they will be looking for a return to winning ways after Friday’s 0-0 draw at home to Sunderland. Below you can find my Plymouth Argyle vs Burnley predictions featuring team news and betting tips.
Plymouth Argyle vs Burnley Betting Tips
Team news
Muhamed Tijani (leg) and Joe Edwards (hamstring) remain sidelined and Plymouth could be short of options at the back after Kornel Szucs and Brendan Galloway missed Saturday's 1-0 loss at home to QPR. Goalkeeper Conor Hazard (unspecified injury) is a doubt.
As for Burnley, Hannibal Mejbri has completed a three-game ban but Manuel Benson, Nathan Redmond, Aaron Ramsey and Jordan Beyer are injured.
Plymouth Argyle vs Burnley Odds
Plymouth are 4/1 to register their fifth league win of the season and 6/5 to avoid defeat. Burnley can be backed at 3/5 to take the points, while the draw is priced up at 5/2.
A fairly low-scoring game is anticipated, with over 2.5 goals quoted at 1/1 and under 2.5 on offer at 8/11.
Burnley -1 handicap @ 9/5
Burnley have had a few issues winning matches at Turf Moor, but they are excelling on their travels and should be much too strong for the division’s basement boys in south Devon.
The Clarets have relied heavily on their disciplined defence and goalkeeper James Trafford, who made a pair of brilliant penalty saves in Friday’s goalless draw against Sunderland.
But they have scored in six of their last seven away games and may be able to cut loose against Plymouth, who have the worst defensive record (55 goals conceded) in the division.
Plymouth will be aware of the need to tighten up but they look stretched at the back after first choice defenders Kornel Szucs and Brendan Galloway sat out Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to QPR.
Argyle were spared a heavier weekend defeat by QPR’s poor finishing, but they may suffer a hammering at the hands of Burnley, who have the best away record (28 points from 14 games) in the section.

Zian Flemming to score anytime @ 7/4
Burnley have lacked a prolific scorer but they must be encouraged by the recent form of Dutch attacker Zian Flemming, who has netted five times in his last eight appearances.
Flemming possesses excellent movement and looks a solid 7/4 shot to boost his tally.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
