Peterborough vs Rotherham Prediction: Goals expected in this clash

Peterborough United host Rotherham United at the Weston Homes Stadium in League 1 on Saturday (15:00, Sky Sports+), with both sides looking to climb the table. The home side find themselves two points off the pace in the top six, while Rotherham are three adrift heading into the weekend.
Both sides picked up wins in their last league outing but this will be a tough test for each of them as they are going up against a promotion rival. Read on for my Peterborough vs Rotherham prediction, featuring match odds and team news.
Peterborough vs Rotherham Odds
Peterborough are 13/10 to take the three points here, which gives them a theoretical chance of 43.5%. Rotherham are valued at 15/8 to win this match, giving them an implied probability of 34.8%. The draw can be backed at 13/5 (27.8%).
Both teams to score is available at 4/7 and over 2.5 goals is on offer at 4/6.
Peterborough winger Kwame Poku is the joint-top scorer in League 1 this season with six goals to his name. He is 7/1 to open the scoring on Saturday, or 23/10 to score anytime.
His teammate Malik Mothersille has three for himself and he is priced at 2/1 to find the back of the net at any stage during this contest.
Team News
Posh are missing a few players due to injury, with the most notable being midfielder Hector Kyprianou, who has been out of action after going off against Wigan at the start of the month.
Jadel Katongo is not expected back until around Christmas due to the hamstring problem he picked up in the 3-2 defeat to Birmingham City last month. Mahamadou Suhoso and Rio Adebisi also remain in the medical bay.
Boss Darren Ferguson told the press a few weeks ago that midfielder Joel Randall was unhappy at the club despite recently signing a new three-year contract. Randall came off the bench against Stevenage at the weekend and got a good reception from the supporters, and his manager will be hoping they can move past this episode.
He will be in contention to start this match given the injury to Kyprianou.
For Rotherham, defender Sean Raggett is a doubt to feature after missing the last four games across all competitions due to injury. He will be assessed ahead of the weekend, as will midfielder Liam Kelly, who missed out on Tuesday's win over Newcastle Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy with an issue.
After picking up a much-needed win against Reading last weekend, manager Steve Evans could opt to keep the same front three of Jonson Clarke-Harris, Sam Nombe and Malik Wilks.
Rotherham - Draw no bet @ 11/10
This is a market I don't think I've ever opted for when giving my tips, but on this occasion it stands out. If you are unaware of how a draw no bet works, if the result ends in a draw you will get your stake back. If Peterborough win, however, the bet will be settled as a loss.
I think there is value to be had with Rotherham here because it feels like things are starting to click into gear for them, and as one of the promotion-chasers, it can't come quick enough.
Despite not starting the season as well as they would've liked, they are within touching distance of the top six and a win this weekend could see them close the gap. They have won back-to-back games in the league for the first time this season, and it stretches to three if you include their EFL Trophy triumph in midweek.
The Millers are a club with extensive promotion experience from this division in recent years, and Evans has already done this with them, coming back in 2014. Now that they have put a decent little run together, you think Rotherham will continue to get stronger as each game passes.
Peterborough will be an interesting test for them as they are another team with promotion hopes this year. However, Posh lost a lot of key personnel over the summer and losing the influence of Kyprianou for the foreseeable future could further dent their plans.
Rotherham have the chance to land a statement win to keep their run going, and I won't be surprised if they stun the home side on Saturday because they are finally playing with some confidence.

Both teams to score @ 4/7
With both teams having picked up two wins in the last seven days, the two sets of players head into the weekend with confidence and I think we will see goals fly in at both ends.
Rotherham have seen BTTS land in five of their 10 matches in League 1 this term. It has been more frequent in games featuring Posh, as it has been a winning selection in seven of their 10 outings in 2024/25.
The hosts also boast the joint-leading marksman in the division in Poku, with his last goal coming against Stevenage last Saturday. He will pose a huge threat to the Millers' back line and I won't be surprised to see him get on the scoresheet in this one.
Sam Nombe has scored in the last two league wins for the Millers, so he will be eager to help his side claim their third victory in a row.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
