Peterborough vs Luton Prediction: Goals at a premium at London Road

Peterborough United welcome Luton Town to London Road for matchday two of the 2025/26 League 1 campaign on Saturday (12:30 BST, live on Sky Sports +).
The sides have had contrasting starts to the new season with Peterborough losing away at Cardiff City while a late own goal from Ryan Johnson handed Luton all three points against AFC Wimbledon. Read on for my Peterborough vs Luton predictions.

Team News
Despite the loss against Cardiff, Darren Ferguson may be tempted to stick with the same lineup this weekend, given that he has no injury worries to contend with.
That would see Nicholas Bilokapic start between the sticks, Oscar Wallin and David Okagbue will make up the heart of the defence, while Declan Frith, Donay O'Brien-Brady and Abraham Odoh will support Bradley Ihionvien in attack.
As for the visitors, Matt Bloomfield made four substitutions to his side before the winning goal came against AFC Wimbledon, so changes could be made to the Luton lineup.
Thomas Holmes remains a doubt for the Hatters after missing last week's opener, while Shandon Baptiste and Cauley Woodrow are both pushing for starts in midfield and the final third.
The hosts are 11/4 to claim the three points, giving them an implied win probability of 26.7%, while the draw is currently priced at 11/4 and Luton are 4/5 favourites for Saturday's contest.
Nahki Wells leads the anytime goalscorer market at 7/5, while Ihionvien is shortest-priced for the hosts at 21/10.
Under 2.5 goals @ 6/5
Both sides looked light up top in their season openers, so we think goals will be at a premium at London Road this weekend.
Posh mustered three shots on target - one a penalty - in a 2-1 loss at Cardiff which flattered them, while the visitors managed just one shot on target in their 1-0 win over Wimbledon.
Players will still be getting up to speed fitness-wise, and new signings will need time to gel into their new squads, which is why picking a low-scoring game appeals.

Both teams to score - yes @ 4/7
Despite our first tip of a low-scoring game, both sides can still get on the scoresheet this weekend.
This bet has been a feature of the Posh's matches for quite some time, going back to last season. There's been goals at both ends in nine of the hosts’ last 10 League 1 fixtures, and only failed to score in one of their last 10 home games across all competitions.
In addition, Luton have managed just two clean sheets away from home in their last 21 away trips across all competitions, but they've managed to score in eight of the last nine competitive contests.
