Peterborough United vs Northampton Town Betting Tips
Team News
Peterborough’s top scorer Kwame Poku will be out until at least February with a hamstring issue. Rio Adebisi, Bradley Ohinovien and Jed Steer are also absentees for Posh.
Timothy Eyoma and Jordan Willis could feature for Northampton after making the matchday squad against Rotherham last time out.
Peterborough United vs Northampton Town Odds
Peterborough can be backed at 4/7 for the victory, giving the hosts an implied win probability of 63.6%, while Northampton are 18/5 outsiders and the draw is available at 3/1.
Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 4/7, while both teams to score is priced at 8/13 and it is 11/8 for over 1.5 goals in the first half.
PeterboroughUnited to win and both teams to score @ 9/5
Peterborough have been dominant in the EFL Trophy this season as they look to retain their title after they beat Wycombe 2-1 in the final last term.
They won all three group games, scoring eight and conceding just two in the process, and are known for their entertaining style of play.
Both teams have scored in eight of their last 10 games in all competitions and they were 4-3 winners over Crawley at the weekend in League 1.
They take on rivals Northampton less than two weeks after the pair met in the league with the Cobblers running out 2-1 winners in a tight game at home.
That was their only win from their last eight games in all competitions, however, and they may fall to another defeat here, which would be their fourth in their last eight games.
The visitors’ away form has been particularly poor this season, they are winless in their last seven road trips and Posh’s high-scoring ways could be enough to overpower these familiar opponents.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Over 3.5 goals @ 5/4
Peterborough have been extremely entertaining this season, particularly at home. Posh have seen six of their last eight games at London Road produce four or more goals and this cup clash looks set to follow suit.
Northampton can be exposed at the back, as they were in their 3-0 weekend defeat to Rotherham, and both teams are fancied to play their part in what looks likely to be another lively local derby.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
