Peterborough United

The FA Cup Third Round continues into Sunday and at 2pm we have an intriguing looking tie from London Road, as League One Peterborough take on high-flying Championship outfit Leeds. As always, we've previewed this one and given you our best betting selections.

Peterborough vs Leeds Betting Tips

  • Peterborough/Draw Double Chance - 5/4
  • Ricky-Jade Jones to score - 16/5

Both these sides are chasing promotion from their respective divisions and whilst this may be seen as a bit of a niggling diversion from their league campaigns, each club would also love to be in the hat for the fourth round.

Posh are up to the heady heights of 3rd in League One, after a tremendous run of form, which has seen them go nine unbeaten including six wins and three draws. Darren Ferguson's men are also the highest scorers in the third tier, with Ephron Mason-Clark just pipping Jonson Clarke-Harris in the top scorer charts.

As for Leeds, their mission to bounce back immediately to the top flight is going fairly well. They remain fourth in the Championship, but a dodgy spell of form has seen them slip away from the automatic promotion positions.

Back-to-back losses to Preston and West Brom over the Christmas period were damaging, although they righted that with a heavy home win over Birmingham, which saw the end of the Wayne Rooney era.

Now, Daniel Farke has a decision to make, just how strongly does he value this competition or will it be a unrecognisable team for the visit to Cambridgeshire?

Team news

There are doubts over Romoney Crichlow and Malik Mothersille for this one, while starting goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic is confirmed as out.

As for the Whites, they are also without Illan Meslier (suspension) and no 2 Karl Darlow could also be out with a dislocated thumb. Elsewhere, Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk will all need late assessments. Sam Byram and Stuart Dallas remain unavailable.

That should mean that Farke will play a heavily rotated squad, with as many as eight changes being made to the side that beat Birmingham City on New Year's Day.

Match odds

As expected, League One Peterborough are the 18/5 underdog, with Leeds a 8/13 favourite to progress. The draw is available to back at 10/3, if you fancy  a replay at Elland Road.

Goals look to be on the agenda with over 2.5 at 4/6, while Both Teams to Score is at the exact same price.

Peterborough/Draw Double Chance - 5/4

With Posh smashing the goals in and Leeds leaking them at the other end, I can't see the West Yorkshire side keeping a clean sheet here.

If Farke does rotate his squad and plays the fringe players this could be a very long afternoon for the Whites, with Peterborough expected to be at full strength in front of a exuberant London Road crowd.

Ricky-Jade Jones to score - 16/5

The latest striker to roll off the Posh academy conveyor belt, 21-year-old Jones made his debut for the club at just 16 and is absolutely rapid up front. He has already surpassed his goal tally for last season and is on a hot streak, scoring four goals in his last eight games.

United Director of Football Barry Fry responded to a £15m transfer rumour regarding the raw striker this week by saying "it would have to be at least £25m", so that is how highly-rated the young man is. I can see him causing problems for Leeds back four on Sunday.
