South American qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is well underway and Paraguay host Bolivia at 23.30 BST on Tuesday night. I’ve taken a look at the market to pick out a couple of betting angles.

Paraguay vs Bolivia Tips

  • Under 2.5 goals @ EVS
  • Paraguay 2-0 Bolivia @ 4/1

Team News

Paraguay’s squad features the likes of Miguel Almiron of Newcastle United and captain Gustavo Gomez of Palmeiras. Both players are key to Daniel Garnero’s cause, and featured in the 1-0 defeat to Argentina last time out. In a 3-4-3 formation, the manager is likely to name the same XI.

Meanwhile Bolivia have a squad that is almost completely composed of domestic players, and led by 36-year-old captain Marcelo Martins. Striker Juame Cuellar is currently playing for Barcelona B, and is expected to become a key player for his country.

Match Odds

Paraguay are heavy favourites here, 2/9 to secure all three points. Meanwhile, Bolivia can be backed at 10/1 for the win, and a draw is priced at 4/1.

Under 2.5 goals @ EVS

Paraguay have struggled for goals so far, albeit against quality opposition. They have so far failed to score in their three qualifiers, having lost 1-0 to Venezuela and Argentina, while being held at home by ten man Paraguay. The lack of goal threat is a serious concern, and even if they are able to beat a poor Bolivian side, they are unlikely to put them to the sword.

Bolivia conceded five against Brazil and three against Argentina, but clearly Paraguay aren’t anywhere near the same level as those two teams. They lost 2-1 to Ecuador last time out, and I can see them putting in a similar defensive showing here and keeping the score respectable.

Paraguay 2-0 Bolivia @ 4/1

Nailing a correct score is the best way to enhance the odds, and we can be fairly sure of a home win, given the disparity between the two teams. Bolivia have managed to score against Brazil and Ecuador, but I feel that Paraguay’s sturdy defence should be able to keep them out.

Backing the home side to score twice in a game that they should dominate over 90 minutes, gives a 4/1 correct score of 2-0. Bolivia tend to struggle away from home in particular, and they could be staring in the face of another defeat here.
