Oxford vs Burnley Prediction: Will U’s make it four from four at home?

Oxford United have already surprised a few people with their performances in the Championship. The League 1 play-off winners were the favourites to get relegated before the season began, but have won three of their six games so far and currently sit ninth in the table.
Next up for the U’s is a home test against Burnley, who have won four of their six games and look well-set for a promotion push. Scott Parker received criticism when he came in, but he is managing to find points home and away, with the 1-0 success at Leeds their biggest scalp so far.
Below I preview this one and give my Oxford vs Burnley prediction, featuring team news and betting tips.
Team News
Joe Bennett remains out for Oxford, but the biggest miss will be captain Cameron Brannagan, who will sit out the next six weeks after suffering a knee injury against Stoke. Will Goodwin is on his way back to fitness but this one will come too soon, while Josh McEachran picked up a groin issue in the last game and is a doubt.
Manuel Benson is out for Burnley with a calf injury, while Jordan Beyer could miss the rest of 2024. Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond are both back on the grass yet still need to work on their match fitness, but Conor Roberts and Mike Tresor could return to the squad here.
Oxford are priced at 23/10 to win this game, with Burnley available at 1/1. A draw can be backed at 13/5, over 2.5 goals is 4/5 and BTTS is 8/11.
Over 2.5 goals @ 4/5
This should be a cracking game. There have been over 2.5 goals in four of Oxford’s six league fixtures so far and they certainly aren’t shy in taking the game to the opposition, especially at home. They’ve been excellent so far at the Kassam taking nine points from nine, and I think they can get at a Burnley team who aren’t completely convincing me this term.
What the Clarets do have in abundance is individual quality. They have the likes of Luca Koleosho and Lyle Foster to cause problems for the opposition, and as a result I think we will see plenty of goals at both ends. Oxford just seem to have this spirit at home to win games, while Burnley have the attacking power to score in this one.

Oxford to win and BTTS @ 5/1
They’ve already beaten Preston, Stoke and Norwich at the Kassam Stadium, so let’s back Oxford to make it four from four at home. I think they can get at Burnley and although on paper the visitors have the stronger squad, I believe they will start to fall away from the top-six at some point.
Burnley actually have the fourth-lowest xG in the Championship this season and have been the beneficiaries of some fortunate results, such as the 5-0 success over Cardiff. They needed a last-gasp winner to beat Portsmouth last time out and I feel eventually their luck will run out. I’m backing an entertaining home win at a big price.
