Aston Villa have not looked back since losing 5-1 at Newcastle on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, taking 16 points from their last six matches, and they will be looking to keep the winning run going at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

High-flying Villa will believe they can put up a good fight in their bid to invade on the Premier League’s top four while Forest are in need of a win as they sit only two places above the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa Betting Tips

  • Over 3.5 goals @ 7/4
  • Ibrahim Sangare to be shown a card @ 2/1

Match odds

Nottingham Forest are underdogs at 3/1 for the three points on Sunday, with Villa at 9/10 for the victory. A stalemate at the City Ground is available at 13/5.

Team news

Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi returned as a substitute in the 3-0 loss at Liverpool last weekend but he is not certain to be available for the visit of Aston Villa.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Felipe, Divock Origi, Danilo, Chris Wood and Gonzalo Montiel are all sidelined through injury, so manager Steve Cooper may not make too many changes.

Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno is back in training and could be in the matchday squad, but Jacob Ramsey, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause and Emi Buendia remain sidelined while Jhon Duran is a doubt.

Over 3.5 goals @ 7/4

Villa are flying high in the Premier League after winning seven of their opening 10 games, but they may not have things all their own way at Forest who are unbeaten in seven home league fixtures.

Instead, goals may be the way to go as Villa’s 10 league games have featured 40 goals this season, with seven of those fixtures rewarding backers of over 3.5.

Unai Emery’s side are racking up the goals with star striker Ollie Watkins playing a pivotal role, but they have managed only two league clean sheets this term so Forest should not be writing off their chances.

Cooper’s hosts may be without a win in six after last Sunday’s 3-0 loss at Liverpool, but they have shared the spoils in four of those games.

At home, Forest are yet to lose in four home league matches this season and both teams have scored in each of those contests with Sheffield United, Burnley, Brentford and Luton.

Both teams have also scored in five of Villa’s last six league fixtures so this could be an entertaining affair in which punters are advised to go long on goals.

Ibrahim Sangare to be shown a card @ 2/1

One more yellow card for Ibrahim Sangare equals a suspension but he may not be able to avoid it against Aston Villa.

Sangare has looked promising in defensive midfield for Forest since making the switch from PSV Eindhoven, although he has been booked in four of his six Premier League starts.

Villa are likely to dictate the tempo of the game and dominate proceedings, which could spell trouble for Sangare whose job it is to break up possession and retrieve the ball.

Sangare has been booked in back-to-back games against Luton and Liverpool and another card may follow against the red-hot visitors.
