Norwich vs Blackburn Prediction: Both teams can find the net at Carrow Road

Norwich City will give new boss Johannes Hoff Thorop a warm welcome as he takes to the Carrow Road touchline for his first league match, and they will want to see a response after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Oxford United on the opening weekend. They face a Blackburn Rovers side who put in a great performance as they hammered Derby County 4-2 on Friday night.
Below you can find my Norwich vs Blackburn (15:00) prediction.
Team News
The big Norwich City story surrounds Jon Rowe at the moment. He was left out of the squad against Oxford as a proposed transfer to Marseille lingered. Now that deal has not yet been completed, but it appears Norwich have relegated their man to the u21s until the issue is resolved. He is set to miss this one, with Abu Kamara starting in his place. Josh Sargent and Borja Sainz are set to provide the goalscoring threat for the hosts.
Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers have a couple of options to consider, but John Eustace could name the same XI as the team that bet Derby. Andreas Weimann scored off the bench in that one and could feature, but Sammie Szmodics is off to Ipswich Town, and has likely played his last game for the club.
Norwich are priced at 11/10 to win this game, with Rovers available at 12/5. A draw can be backed at 5/2, over 2.5 goals is 8/11 and BTTS is 8/13.
BTTS @ 8/13
I think we will see a bit of a response from Norwich on home soil. They failed to score at Oxford, but then played out a 4-3 thriller against Stevenage in the Carabao Cup, so goals are the order of the day. Sargent is set to start and is one of the most dangerous strikers the Championship has to offer, while Onel Hernandez showed his quality in midweek with two goals.
They are also coming up against a team who secured a 4-2 victory in their opener, against a very poor Derby side. It’s tough to judge how good Blackburn will be this season, but the fact they scored four shows their attacking quality, yet conceding twice against a poor attack proves theri defensive frailties. I’m expecting both teams to score at Carrow Road.
Josh Sargent to score first @ 5/1
I think home form is going to be really important for Norwich this season and am backing them to get off to a quick start. Despite losing Sara and Rowe, they will be desperate to impress the Carrow Road faithful and I think their main main will find the net first. Josh Sargent scored 16 goals in 28 games last season and is one of the best strikers at this level.
More importantly for Norwich, he is still at the club, and when he is on the pitch he usually scores. Blackburn conceded twice against the Rams, so I think Norwich will be able to find the net more than once here. The American can score first.
