A key fixture in the race for the Championship play-offs takes place this weekend as Norwich City host sixth-placed Coventry City.

The Sky Blues drew 2-2 at home to Bristol City in midweek, in what was a dysfunctional performance. Meanwhile, Norwich’s last outing saw them crash out of the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool, but they have actually been in fairly good form over the last two months.

Below is how we see this game panning out, with a couple of betting tips for you to consider.

Team News

Danny Batth is set to rejoin Norwich's training next week after his long-term injury, while David Wagner has confirmed that Shane Duffy and Jonny Rowe will both miss this one, with everybody else in the squad is fit to play. Adam Idah was a transfer deadline day departure, while Sydney van Hooijdonk will be available after joining on loan from Bologna on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Haji Wright returned to action for Coventry in midweek and could be fit to start here. However, they lost Ben Sheaf to a hamstring injury and it looks like he could be out for up to a month. Meanwhile, Kyle McFadzean left for Blackburn Rovers late in the window, while new signing Ephron Mason-Clark won't join until the summer, having been loaned back to Peterborough United.

Match Odds

The odds are incredibly balanced for this game. Norwich are 6/4 to take all three points while Coventry are priced at 7/4. A draw is available at 12/5, BTTS is 4/7 and over 2.5 goals is 8/11

BTTS @ 4/7

Both teams have scored in each of Coventry’s last five Championship games, and although they are on a decent run, I don’t feel comfortable in backing them to win this one. The Sky Blues have a simply awful record against Norwich, failing to win in their last nine meetings across all competitions.

Their last success came way back in 2009 when Jordan Henderson lined up in their midfield. Norwich just seem to have something over Coventry, and a trip to Carrow Road is always tough. For those reasons, I’m steering clear of predicting the result, and instead am happy to back BTTS in this one. Both sides possess a huge amount of attacking talent, and goals shouldn’t be hard to come by.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto to score first @ 10/1

‘Our superstar from Tokyo…’

The Coventry fans have fallen head over heels for Sakamoto, the winger who joined this summer from KV Oostende for just over £1m. Since Coventry switched to a 4-2-3-1, he has been in sensational form from the right wing, scoring six goals in seven Championship matches.

He opened the scoring against Bristol City on Tuesday night, even when his side weren’t playing well, and is likely to be the key attacking outlet for the Sky Blues. Able to produce a goal out of anything, the 7/2 on him to score anytime is generous, but the 10/1 on him to bag the first goal is gargantuan. We fancy taking a risk on this occasion, so have backed the 10/1 shout.
