Norway and Italy collide on Wednesday (20:00 BST, BBC One) for their round of 16 tie at the Uefa European Women's Championship, with the game taking place at Stade de Geneve.

Norway will be pleased with how this tournament has gone so far, having progressed to the knockout stage for the first time since 2013. Gemma Grainger's side have been one of the most impressive sides at the Euros so far, as they topped Group A by winning all three of their matches in the group stage. For the first time since 2013, they have made it to the knockout stage, and given how they have fared so far they should be confident of getting past Italy in this round of 16 tie.

Italy did not have as much joy as their opponents in the group stage, picking up just four points from their three fixtures. Form and momentum is with Norway, who have also scored eight goals thus far.

The two sides last met in qualifying, with both matches ending in a draw (0-0 and 1-1). This would suggest another tight encounter could lie in store on Wednesday, but with the way Norway are playing right now, I think they have the credentials to go on and win this match and book their place in the quarter-finals.

Norway have some very exciting attacking players in the likes of Signe Gaupset and Frida Maanum, with both scoring braces in the 4-3 victory over Iceland last time out. They are two players of note who Italy need to worry about but blunting their momentum is going to be tough.

Italy have still got to find another level if they wish to be considered serious contenders this summer and I'm not sure if they will have the time to find it against a flying Norway side.

They may have endured a few scares in some of their matches, but Grainger's players have consistently found a way to win, and I think this will be the case against Italy.

Both teams to score

Le Azzure will still have a part to play in this clash and I think at the very least they will get on the scoresheet. BTTS was a winning selection in one of the two qualifiers these two teams contested, while it has also landed in four of their previous five head-to-heads in all competitions.

There have also been goals at both ends in all of Norway's games at the Euros so far this summer, as well as Italy's last two outings in Switzerland. I think this bodes well for this trend continuing on Wednesday night.

Frida Maanum anytime goalscorer

The Arsenal star had to be patient to open her account at the Euros but she was rewarded with a brace in the last fixture against Iceland, as the attacker delivered a fine performance.

Her versatility allows her to play different roles that Grainger requires on a game-by-game basis, and the 25-year-old has already played as a striker and a number 10 out in Switzerland this summer. Maanum has started the last two group matches and she is set to keep her place in the side against Italy.

She's likely to take the attacking midfield role again, which will give her the freedom to exploit any gaps Le Azzure leave for her to attack or occupy. Maanum should be very confident heading into this clash and I think it will help her to get on the scoresheet again.
