North Macedonia vs England Bet Builder Tips: Goals expected in final qualifier

England failed to impress during their 2-0 win over Malta at Wembley, but it was a win that confirmed them as group winners. Heading into Euro 2024, that means they will be one of the top seeds which should in theory, give them a beneficial draw. They round off their qualification campaign with a game against North Macedonia and below we have previewed the game.

Fikayo Tomori started at left-back for England against Malta, with Marc Guehi partnering Harry Maguire at centre-back. With the Three Lions lack of left-back cover, especially now Levi Colwill has dropped out of the squad, Kieran Trippier is likely to start in that role. Declan Rice could also come back into the team, while Marcus Rashford failed to impress from the left-wing, opening the door for Jack Grealish or perhaps even Cole Palmer to start.

England are unsurprisingly the heavy favourites for this match, priced at 1/7 to win this game. North Macedonia are 16/1, while a draw can be backed at 7/1. BTTS is 5/4, over 2.5 goals is 4/9 and England to score over 5.5 goals is 10/1.

England have shown immense quality over this qualification period, winning six of their seven matches so far. In the reverse fixture, they hammered seven goals past North Macedonia so they should also be able to win this game, but their hosts have improved recently.

They’ve found some form in front of goal, scoring twice against Italy in a 4-2 defeat, three times against Armenia and twice against Malta in impressive victories. With England’s defensive injuries, I believe North Macedonia will be able to get on the scoresheet here, even if it ultimately ends in defeat. BTTS increases the odds massively on an England win, and I’m happy to get behind the 15/8 price on offer.

North Macedonia 1-3 England @ 10/1

The only other way to get a big priced winner in these types of fixtures is to land a correct score. Given we believe North Macedonia will score once, we are already at an advantage in terms of boosting the odds. England should win, but I have a feeling they will find life a lot tougher than they did at Old Trafford.
