Nice enter the round, sitting 31st of 36 teams without a win on the board from their four previous attempts.
The French side have drawn two and lost two, scoring four goals but conceding eight. A two-point tally means the Eaglets are two points off the top 24 and the Europa League playoff places. They drew 2-2 at home to Twente last time and know victory on Thursday would move them closer to the prize places.
Rangers kick off matchday five in tenth with their stats so far showing two wins, one draw, and a defeat with eight goals scored and five conceded. They sit in a handy position in the playoff places but are two points shy of the top eight and a spot in the finals.
The visitors have taken four of the last six points available in this competition and know a win in France would strengthen their chances of playing knockout football.
Nice enjoy the backing of the home support and proved they can hold their own at this level when playing their part in that thrilling four-goal draw with Dutch club Twente last time.
Twente took a 2-0 lead in that game, scoring on eight and 60 minutes, before Nice responded with strikes in the 66th and 88th minute, the second rescuing a point despite Nice having Sofiane Diop sent off.
They’ll need plenty more of that fighting spirit when the Scots come to town. You can back the home win on Thursday evening at 5/6 with Betfred.
Rangers are holding their own in this competition after four games. They started with a stunning 2-0 away win over Malmo and followed that with a 4-1 home defeat to Lyon, a 4-0 win in Glasgow against FCSB, and, most recently, a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Greece against Olympiakos.
The Gers fell behind on 56 minutes at Olympiakos but scored a quick-fire reply on 64 minutes through Cyriel Dessers and had chances to win the game. The visitors are organised in defence and dangerous on the counter-attack.
Looking at these prices through an implied odds lens shows us that the hosts have a 55% chance of winning the game according to the Betfred traders. They see an away win as a 24% shot at the 16/5 odds with the draw 13/5 and a 28% possibility of occurring.
Both teams to score
Our first bet in France is on both teams to score and that is sure to do a job in your midweek accumulators.
The home team got two here against Twente last time, one in a heavy defeat away to Lazio, and opened with a 1-1 home draw against Spanish club Real Sociedad. They carry a goal threat, especially at home, and have the quality to punish mistakes made by the visitors.
The stats show Rangers have already registered eight goals in just four Europa League games. That tally puts them level with Eintracht Frankfurt in fourth and one goal better than Anderlecht in fifth.
Philippe Clement’s team has scored at least once in each of their previous four Europa League starts, and we’re happy to follow that trend, backing both teams to score at the Allianz Riviera.

Both score and Nice win
Pushing for a better price in the game, we’re backing both teams to score in a home win for Nice. The French side may be beneath their visitors in the pecking order, but they are moving in the right direction and perform better at home than on the road in this competition.
A hard-fought 90 minutes is expected in France, but the locals look value to finally get off the mark with a first Europa League win of the campaign.
Rangers are always dangerous and reserve their best performances for this competition. They performed well in Olympiakos and should’ve won the points, but they are unreliable in defence.
We’ve seen too many individual errors recently, both in this competition and in the Scottish Premiership. Back Nice to shade a win and collect all three points.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
