Newport County vs Chesterfield Prediction: Another goal for Will Grigg

After losing their last two matches, Newport County will look for a response when they entertain Chesterfield at Rodney Parade in League 2 on Friday (20:00, Sky Sports+). The hosts had won two matches on the spin before their defeats to Bradford City and Harrogate Town and now they face a side who are ahead of them in the table on goal difference.
The Spireites are unbeaten in their last five league games, drawing four of them. Read on for my Newport County vs Chesterfield prediction, alongside the latest match odds and team news.

Both teams to score is valued at 8/13 and over 2.5 goals is marketed at 4/7.
Team News
Newport will welcome back defender Anthony Glennon for this clash after he served his one-match suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards against Harrogate last time out.
Shane McLoughlin remains out injured but Matt Baker is back in contention after being away with Wales Under-21s.
Michael Spellman will be pushing for a start after recently returning to action from his own injury lay-off, but it looks likely he will be given time to build up his fitness first before being thrown into the starting lineup.
On loan Huddersfield Town striker Kyle Hudlin looks set to continue up top for the Exiles. He has scored his first two league goals of the season in his last three appearances, so he is growing in confidence in Nelson Jardim's side.
For the visitors, boss Paul Cook doesn't have too many injury concerns heading into the weekend. Defender Devan Tanton has been absent for the last three matches and he looks to be a doubt again to feature on Friday night.
Chesterfield will also take a close look on veteran midfielder John Fleck, who is still yet to make his debut for the club since joining from Blackburn Rovers over the summer.
Draw or Chesterfield and both teams to score @ 19/20
The visitors were left disappointed with the point with Notts County at the weekend after the Magpies salvaged a draw thanks to a late penalty decision. David McGoldrick was initially denied by goalkeeper Max Thompson but the ball fell nicely for him to follow up on the rebound.
The Spireites did get into plenty of dangerous positions and there were plenty of positives for them to take, not least that their unbeaten run has continued. After four draws from their last five, though, they will be eager to start putting more wins on the board.
Cook's side have started well following their promotion from the National League last season, but if they wish to challenge like their predecessors Wrexham and Stockport did after returning to the EFL, they will need to start finding a way to win to help them further climb the table.
Of their three wins in the league so far, two have come on the road, so it appears as though they are having more joy when playing away from home. However, all five of Newport's wins this season have come when they've been playing at Rodney Parade, losing just once on home soil.
This will be a tough place for Chesterfield to go but they certainly have the talent within their ranks to get a result. At the moment, it's difficult to back them to win, so I have given myself insurance here by covering a draw too, because they cannot seem to get enough of them at the moment.
I've boosted the odds by adding both teams to score because it has been a winning selection in seven of both sides' 11 appearances in League 2 so far.

Will Grigg anytime goalscorer @ 5/4
Chesterfield striker Will Grigg came off the bench to score his fourth league goal of the season against Notts County last weekend, and he will be hungry to bolster his tally against the Exiles.
He has now scored three goals in his last three outings in the fourth tier - including a brace in his last away fixture against Bromley at the beginning of the month.
Saturday was the first time this season in which the former Sunderland and Wigan Athletic man had scored after entering the game from the bench. With fellow forward Paddy Madden netting against the Magpies, Cook has a tough choice to make up top in south Wales.
Though, I do think Grigg is primed to have an impact whether he starts or comes on from the bench, so I believe he is worth backing to score anytime in this fixture.
