Tottenham to beat Newcastle

Tottenham were mightily impressive when hammering Everton 4-0 last time out and Spurs look set to be a major Premier League force this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s men hit 13 shots and 12 corners against the Toffees and that followed tallies of 15 and 13 in Spurs’ Premier League opener against Leicester.

There is bags of attacking potential in the Tottenham team and they have cut a progressive outfit under Postecoglou.

Newcastle have a reputation of being hard to beat at St James’ Park, but the Magpies have won only five of their last 11 home matches and manager Eddie Howe was frustrated in the summer transfer window.

The Toon Army were fortunate to get past Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup in midweek and their luck may dry up when Spurs come to town.

Over 3.5 goals

Fixtures involving Newcastle and Tottenham have a staggeringly high goals tally. The net has bulged 40 times in the last nine meetings between these sides and the last three games between the teams have finished 4-0, 4-1 and 6-1.

The fixture has seen seven of the last eight matches bust the 3.5-goal line and if anything Spurs are even more forward-thinking and attack-minded under Postecoglou.

Neither side is likely to sit back at St James’ Park, and with Newcastle missing a whole host of first-choice defenders, the goals look set to flow again on Sunday.

Heung-min Son to score at any time

Heung-min Son found the net twice in Tottenham’s 4-0 romp over Everton and the South Korean forward can continue his goalscoring form at St James’ Park.

The 32-year-old could be deployed in a central attacking role, in the absence of summer signing Dominic Solanke, and that is likely to increase the goalscoring potential of Son.

Newcastle are without Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles at the back and the South Korean will fancy his chances of exposing a make-shift Magpies defence on Sunday.
