Newcastle came from behind to beat West Ham on Saturday and with a European finish back on the agenda, they can boost their top-six hopes with a win over Everton on Tuesday, April 2. Sean Dyche's side lost 2-1 at Bournemouth on Saturday and are ominously only three points above the relegation places.

Seamus Coleman's own goal decided the game at the Vitality. It was somewhat of a freak incident as the ball bounced up and struck his chest before nestling in the net, but it epitomised Everton's recent strife. They have also lost on their last three trips to St James' Park and look set for another tough evening, with Saturday's hero Harvey Barnes at the centre of the Magpies' efforts.

Team news

Former Toffee Anthony Gordon is suspended after his dismissal against West Ham and with Miguel Almiron also a doubt, Barnes looks sure to start in one of the wide berths.

Jamaal Lascelles faces six to nine months out with a knee injury suffered against the Hammers and has joined fellow defender Sven Botman and several others in the treatment room.

Everton boss Dyche will hope to have Vitalii Mykolenko back after illness and may hand Beto a start after his goal at Bournemouth.

Match odds

Newcastle are 1/1 to win on Tuesday, with the draw 11/4 and Everton 5/2.

The Toffees have been drawing in three of their last four defeats and draw-Newcastle is temptingly priced at 9/2.

Newcastle to win @ 1/1

Everton are lacking in momentum, and their unfortunate loss at Bournemouth summed up their season.

Dyche needs to find a formula for them to get points but despite a rollercoaster campaign, Newcastle have kept themselves in European contention and now look to be coming good.

Strong home form has been vital for Eddie Howe's side, winning 10 of their 15 league outings on Tyneside and they will be plotting revenge against an opponent that beat them 3-0 before Christmas.

Injuries may have depleted the Magpies, but the way they battled back from 3-1 down to beat West Ham will have given Newcastle incredible confidence, and the hosts can grab another three points on Tuesday.

Harvey Barnes anytime goalscorer @ 2/1

Barnes was brilliant off the bench against the Hammers, but injuries and suspensions elsewhere mean that Howe may choose to start him on Tuesday.

All four of his goals since signing from Leicester have come at St James', and his strikes at the weekend, the first a cool finish before whipping home the winner, demonstrated his talent.

The 26-year-old scored for Leicester against Everton last season, and it seems inevitable that he will trouble them again.
