Napoli must avoid a two-goal defeat to Sporting Braga at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday evening (KO, 20:00) if they are to advance to the Champions League round of 16 at the expense of their Portuguese opponents.

Braga have only taken four points from their first five games of Group C but with the Italians picking up just a single point from their last two matches, qualification is still on the line heading into the final matchday.

Napoli won the reverse fixture 2-1 in September which means that, coupled with a inferior goal difference, Braga must win by at least two goals in Naples.

Napoli vs Sporting Braga Betting Tips:

  • Simon Banza to score anytime @ 13/5

Team News

Napoli have been dealt a potentially huge blow ahead of Tuesday, with Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia not in training with his teammates on Sunday. The 22-year-old was restricted to gym work due to a bout of flu, so boss Walter Mazzarri will be hoping he has recovered in time to face the Portuguese outfit.

With Mario Rui and Mathias Olivera still out injured, centre-back Natan is expected to continue at left-back, while midfielder Jens Cajuste looks set to be sidelined after suffering a knee injury in the defeat to Juventus on Friday night.

Braga will be without defender Sikou Niakata owing to the Mali international's red card against Union Berlin in their last Champions League game, while there are doubts over Victor Gomez and Al Musrati, who both missed a 3-1 win over Vizela last week.

Match Odds

Napoli are 2/5 to win at home in the Champions League for the first time this term, with the visitors priced at 5/1 to claim all three points and make qualification interesting. The draw, which would definitely be enough for the hosts to progress, is 10/3.

Both teams to score is available at 8/11 and it's 4/7 for over 2.5 goals.

Napoli or draw and both teams to score @ EVS

Napoli only need a draw to clinch qualification but three defeats in a row doesn't make for great reading. Neither does six games without a win at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, a run that stretches back to September 27.

Nevertheless, Gli Azzurri should have enough to get past Tuesday's opponents, who were easily dispatched 3-0 by Real Madrid on their last European away day.

That was the first time that Braga had failed to score in a group game this season, so they should be confident of finding the net in this one, especially against a defence that hasn't kept a clean sheet in six matches and has conceded eight in their last three.

But Napoli have got on the scoresheet in all five games in Group C, and they will be thankful for a drop in quality of opposition given they have played Juventus, Inter and Real Madrid in the last couple of weeks.

Simon Banza to score anytime @ 13/5

The 27-year-old was only a late substitute in the previous meeting between the sides, but Banza should be a guaranteed starter on Tuesday after scoring three in his last two games.

The DR Congo international is Braga's top scorer this season with 13 goals in as many league games, and he should be relishing the opportunity to test a defence that has been leaky since the summer departure of Kim Min-jae.

Braga need goals in Naples, and Banza looks like the most likely source of them.
