Wales began life under new head coach Craig Bellamy with a 0-0 draw at home to Turkey on Friday, but the performance in their Nations League opener was more dominant than the scoreline suggests.

Montenegro, on the other hand, were soundly beaten 2-0 in Iceland and they have struggled for form for quite some time. Goals have been hard for both sides to come by but there are several reasons to believe Wales can achieve a positive result in Niksic on Monday evening. Read on my for Montenegro vs Wales prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

No injury concerns have been reported following Montenegro's 2-0 defeat in Iceland but head coach Robert Prosinecki could tweak his line-up on account of the defeat.

Wales can also boast a clean bill of health following the draw with Turkey, although forward Kieffer Moore picked up a cut to the head and will need to be assessed.

Head coach Bellamy suggested changes would be made from the Cardiff clash, which could open the way for Lewis Koumas, Oli Cooper and Moore, who all came off the bench in that match.

Montenegro vs Wales Odds

Montenegro have won two of their three meetings with Wales and they are 21/10 to improve that record on Monday.

Wales won the most recent meeting, although that was back in 2011, and they are 7/5 to level the historical head-to-head record. It was 2-1 to the Dragons on that occasion and a repeat scoreline on Monday is priced up at 17/2.

Wales to win & under 2.5 goals @ 100/30

Bellamy has promised Wales will play with a more expansive approach and there were signs that his side could thrive under those tactics during the 0-0 draw with Turkey last Friday.

The Dragons enjoyed 67% of possession and managed 15 attempts at goal during the Cardiff City Stadium contest. Only one of those was on target, while Sorba Thomas had a first-half effort ruled out for offside, but there were clear signs that Wales may be about to become more of an attacking threat.

And things will need to improve, as Wales have failed to score in their last four outings, and the 0-0 draw with Poland in March was particularly costly as it stopped the Dragons from qualifying for this summer's European Championship.

However, Aaron Ramsey, Brennan Johnson and Joe Rodon all missed gilt-edged chances to land the three points against Turkey and things could have looked even better for the Dragons with better finishing.

Having had more time to prepare and with confidence growing, backing Wales to nick a victory in a low-scoring match could be the way to go in this Niksic contest.

Sorba Thomas anytime goalscorer @ 17/2

Wales created enough chances to beat Turkey on Friday and their new attacking approach could pay off on Monday.

One player who found the back of the net was winger Sorba Thomas, but the Nice man had his effort ruled out for a tight offside.

The livewire forward is likely to be encouraged to push on more under Bellamy and that could lead to more chances in upcoming matches, so the 17/2 about him scoring this week could be a great value option.
