Barcelona have lost their last two matches, both high-profile fixtures, but they can get back on track in a more mundane La Liga contest against Valencia at their temporary Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys home on Monday evening.

Last week's 3-2 defeat in El Clasico all but ended Barca's reign as Spanish champions with Real Madrid 14 points clear of their bitter rivals with five games remaining.

Prior to that, the Catalan giants were dumped out of the Champions League by Paris St-Germain and it has been a miserable fortnight for Xavi's men.

Xavi has reversed his decision to step down at the end of the season and a win over Valencia can lift the mood slightly more for Blaugrana followers

Team news

Frenkie de Jong sprained his ankle in the defeat at the Bernabeu and he joins long-term absentees Gavi and Alejandro Balde on the sidelines.

Mouctar Diakhaby (knee) and long-serving left-back Jose Gaya (thigh) are both out of contention for Valencia, and the game comes too soon for striker Roman Yaremchuk who is struggling with a hamstring injury.

Barcelona are warm 1/3 favourites to win this contest, while Valencia are 17/2 to pick up their third consecutive away win.

It was 1-1 when these two met earlier in the campaign and another draw is a 4/1 shot, while a repeat scoreline is 17/2.

Barcelona to win to nil @ 6/5

Barcelona started the weekend in third place but the outgoing La Liga champions can leapfrog Girona with a victory over Valencia.

Finishing as high as they can is the only remaining aim for Barca this season, and they should be able to secure a comfortable win over Los Che.

Xavi's men have won 12 of 16 home games this term and they have won each of their last three home matches without conceding. That sequence can be extended on Monday, and Barca look a value bet to win to nil once more.

Valencia are still not out of the reckoning for European qualification and they will be desperate to improve their eighth-placed standing. Finishing in the top eight would be their

best placing for almost five years, but their away form suggests they won't enhance their claims in this encounter.

Ruben Baraja's side have lost four of five trips to sides above them in La Liga and they have won just five of their 16 away league matches this season, scoring just 16 times in the process. They may struggle to breach Barca and a defeat also looks likely.

Andreas Christensen to score at any time @ 9/1

Andreas Christensen isn't known for his goalscoring exploits but the former Chelsea defender has shown an eye for goal in recent weeks, and he is making the most of being played in a midfield role by Xavi.

The towering Dane is a huge threat at set pieces and he managed to get on the scoresheet in the El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid last week. That followed a goal in the Champions League loss to PSG earlier in the week and at 9/1 he looks too big a price to make his mark against Valencia, who have conceded 24 times on the road in the league this season.
