Club Brugge eased to Group D supremacy, taking 15 points from their six Europa Conference League matches, and that success will have given the Belgians plenty of inspiration ahead of their last-16 encounter with Norwegian side Molde.

In topping their section, Club Brugge completed a home and away double over Bodo/Glimt, who won the Eliteserien in which Molde could finish only fifth last season, and that could be a valuable piece of form for Thursday’s 8pm kick-off from the Aker Stadium.

Molde finished third behind Bayer Leverkusen and Qarabag in Group H of the Europa League and they were a cut above Legia Warsaw in their play-off round as they recorded an emphatic 6-2 aggregate success.

Molde vs Club Bruges Prediction

  • Club Brugge to win @ 6/4
  • Andreas Skov Olsen to score at any time @ 5/2

Team News

Molde must manage without the suspended Mathias Lovik while fellow defender Emil Brevik has been ruled out through injury.

The Norwegian hosts have goalkeeper Jacob Karlstrom back from injury but Valdemar Lund is a doubt.

Club Brugge have two confirmed absentees, with Simon Mignolet and Antonio Nusa both missing, while leading scorer Igor Thiago is a doubt. However, Casper Nielsen is pushing for a recall.

Match Odds

Having won their last five matches in the Europa Conference League, Club Brugge are 6/4 to claim a first-leg lead in Norway.

Molde, who won one, lost one and drew one of their three Europa League home games, are 15/8 to utilise home advantage. A stalemate is available 23/10.

Both teams to score is a 4/6 chance with over 2.5 goals on offer at 5/6.

Club Brugge to win @ 6/4

Club Brugge have already accounted for Norwegian opposition in this season’s Europa Conference League, having defeated Bodo/Glimt 1-0 away and then 3-1 at home.

And the Belgian side, having won five and drawn one of their six games to top Group D, are fancied to seize the initiative in their last-16 tie with Molde.

Ronny Deila’s side scored 15 goals and conceded only three during their six European assignments, with them also winning 3-1 away at Lugano and running riot in a 5-0 rout at Besiktas.

Molde impressed on their way to a 6-2 aggregate success against Legia Warsaw in the last round, but Brugge look a different calibre to that opposition and should showcase their trophy credentials.

Club Brugge to win at 6-4

Andreas Skov Olsen to score at any time @ 5/2

With leading striker Igor Thiago an injury doubt and their top scorer from the group stages Roman Yaremchuk having joined Valencia on loan, Danish winger Andreas Skov Olsen could carry Club Brugge’s chief scoring threat.

The 24-year-old has scored 15 goals in 39 appearances for club and country this season and earlier in the campaign he netted in five matches on the spin, highlighting what he is capable of once in the groove.

Skov Olsen, who looks like being on penalty duty if, as feared, Thiago is missing, was on the scoresheet in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Genk and he looks a nice price to follow up with another goal at the Aker Stadium.

Andreas Skov Olsen to score anytime at 5-2
