The Championship’s penultimate weekend has arrived and there is still a whole lot to play for at both ends of the table. Millwall confirmed their second-tier status with 1-0 win at Sunderland last time out, while Plymouth Argyle still have work to do as they travel to the Den on Saturday afternoon (15:00).

Argyle were hammered at Stoke last time out which dragged them closer to the drop zone, and they now sit just two points above Birmingham City, who occupy the final relegation spot at this current moment in time. With two of the bottom three facing each other this weekend, a win here could see the Pilgrims secure survival, if other results go their way. Here’s my Millwall vs Plymouth prediction as the pressure begins to ramp up at the bottom of the table.

Millwall vs Plymouth Betting Tips

  • Millwall to win @ 1/1
  • Duncan Watmore to score anytime @ 100/30

Team News

Millwall manager Neil Harris could make a slight alteration to his team, even though his side have now won three games on the trot. The real dilemma for the manager comes as Duncan Watmore is surely going to have to start having scored two in the last two. Michael Obafemi could drop out, while Japhet Tanganga and Jake Cooper will continue at the heart of the defence after another clean sheet.

After a dismal display against Stoke, Plymouth's caretaker manager Neil Dewsnip may ring the changes. Alfie Devine and Lewis Gibson could come into the XI, while Ryan Hardie is now without a goal in his last ten matches. Ben Waine may replace the goal-shy number nine in the capital.

Match Odds

Millwall are favourites to win this game, priced at 1/1 to secure another three points. That gives them an implied win probability of 50%, while Plymouth are priced at 11/4 for the win. A draw can be backed at 5/2, BTTS is 8/11 and over 2.5 goals is 10/11

Millwall to win @ 1/1

I think Plymouth are in trouble. They don’t have a natural manager at the helm, and although their home form may just keep them up, they’ve been shocking on the road. The 3-0 defeat at Stoke set alarm bells ringing in my head, and I don’t think they will be able to get anything against a Millwall side that are bang in form.

Harris has managed to turn this side around, and they’ve now won three in a row, including their last two home games. They’ve secured their survival, so the pressure will be off and in front of a sellout crowd, they can celebrate what has been a turbulent season. They should win this game, and plunge Argyle further towards the relegation zone.

Duncan Watmore to score anytime @ 100/30

Watmore has been the man for the big occasion over the last two weeks. He’s only scored four goals all season, but three of them have come in his last four appearances and he’s found his feet in front of goal. The diminutive forward has come off the bench and found the net in his last two games, which leaves me to believe that he will be given a start here.

If he does start the game, the odds of 100/30 for him to score anytime seems like excellent value. Plymouth have conceded 34 goals on the road this season and do not look like a solid outfit at this moment in time. Watmore could take full advantage at the Den on Saturday afternoon.
