Milan will not have enjoyed seeing their fierce rivals Inter claim the Serie A title but they currently sit second and will want to fend off the chasing pack in the coming weeks.

Stefano Pioli’s side have failed to win any of their last three league games, which has come hot on the heels of them exiting the Europa League at the quarter-final stage at the hands of Roma.

They will still be keen to sign off the season strongly, while Genoa, who sit comfortably in mid-table, have less at stake and that has allowed the shackles to come off in recent weeks.

Alberto Gilardino’s side head to the San Siro fresh from a 3-0 success at home to Cagliari and, having lost only one of their last six Serie A matches, they should be confident of another positive showing. Below you can find my AC Milan vs Genoa prediction.

Milan vs Genoa Betting Tips

  • Genoa or draw double chance @ 8/5
  • Both teams to score & draw @ 9/2

Team news

Milan are boosted by the returns from suspension of Theo Hernandez and Fikayo Tomori, but Davide Calabria and Yunus Munah still have bans to serve.

Goalkeeper Mike Maignan and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek are unavailable due to injury and, although Pierre Kalulu has returned to full training, he is not yet ready to play.

Tommaso Pobega and Luka Jovic are also missing for the hosts while Simon Kjaer must be assessed.

Genoa must cope without Mattia Bani, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Alan Matturro and Milan loanee Junior Messias while top scorer Albert Gudmundsson has an illness to overcome.

Match Odds

Milan have gone five games without a win in all competitions but they are 4/9 to rediscover the winning touch at home to Genoa, who are 6/1 to spring the surprise.

It is 10/3 for the pair to take a point apiece while bookmakers are anticipating an entertaining encounter with over 2.5 goals an 8/11 chance.

Both teams to score is available at 10/11 with Milan forward Olivier Giroud heading the betting to open the scoring at 4/1.

Genoa or draw double chance @ 8/5

Milan still hold a five-point cushion on Juventus in the scrap for second but they are not performing anywhere near their best and could be frustrated by a Genoa side playing with real freedom.

The Rossoneri have failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions, dropping points in draws with Sassuolo and Juve, while also going down 2-1 to bitter rivals Inter.

On paper, Genoa look an easier obstacle to pass, but Gilardino’s visitors have lost only one of their last six league matches and they have excelled on their travels.

Genoa have lost only one of their last nine away league games and that includes draws at Napoli, Juve and Fiorentina, with their sole defeat in that period coming in a 2-1 reverse to Inter.

Having trounced Cagliari 3-0 in their last league game, Genoa have every right to be feeling pretty confident and they represent value to avoid defeat.

Both teams to score & draw @ 9/2

An interest on both teams to score and a share of the spoils must also make some appeal at 9/2.

Genoa have drawn five of their last eight away league games, with that bet doing the business on three occasions, while Milan have been held to a point in two of their last three top-flight matches.

Two of Milan’s six home league games since the middle of January have seen them held to score draws.
