Manchester united vs leicester city

Manchester United will begin the post-Erik ten Hag era on Wednesday night, as they welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford for a fourth-round Carabao Cup tie on Wednesday night (19:45, live on Sky Sports +).

Ruud van Nistelrooy remains in charge on an interim basis, and he will be hoping the Red Devils can bounce back from a disappointing defeat at the weekend to West Ham United. Meanwhile, the visitors are in decent form, winning two of their last three in the Premier League. Read on for my Manchester United vs Leicester City prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Antony remains on the treatment table for the hosts after spraining his ankle against Fenerbahce last week, while the Red Devils are light on options at centre-back due to the absences of duo Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro.

Luke Shaw is yet to feature this season for United due to a calf injury, and Noussair Mazraoui is a doubt for Wednesday night's clash because of a knee problem.

As for the visitors, Patson Daka remains sidelined with an ankle issue, while Hamza Choudhury is not expected to play a part for the Foxes until early December, after dislocating his shoulder earlier this month.

United are 4/11 favourites to win in 90 minutes, giving them an implied win probability of 73.3%, and are 1/6 to win the tie. Meanwhile, Leicester 15/2 to win in 90 minutes and 7/2 to advance to the next round, while the draw can be backed at 4/1.

Rasmus Hojlund leads the anytime goalscorer market for the hosts at 6/5, along with Joshua Zirkzee, while Jamie Vardy is shortest-priced for the hosts at 16/5.

Double Chance - Draw or Leicester City @ 2/1

United were sunk by a controversial late penalty at the London Stadium on Sunday, and need a big response here ahead of a huge showdown with Chelsea next weekend.

The dismissal of Ten Hag doesn't guarantee an immediate response from the Red Devils, and this clash isn't a straightforward one.

Five of United's last eight matches have ended in underwhelming draws, while the Foxes have shown plenty of spirit on the road - they came back from two goals down to claim a 3-2 win at Southampton and they were sunk by two injury-time goals at Arsenal after battling their way back from a similar position to draw level.

So for that reason, the draw or Leicester double chance market appeals here.

Bet Builder - Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Vardy both to score anytime @ 15/2

Garnacho has become a major attacking threat for United, and should have scored at least two goals on Sunday away at West Ham.

The Argentina international scored a brace in the previous round against Barnsley, and has three goals in his last four matches so I think he's a decent pick to score anytime.

I've also included Jamie Vardy in this bet, as the goalscoring burden will likely fall on him again for the Foxes with Daka out injured.

The veteran striker has scored four times already this season, so is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
