Man Utd vs Fulham Prediction: Red Devils in for tough opener

Erik ten Hag kept his job as Manchester United manager after their victory in the FA Cup final and they kick the new campaign off against Fulham, who inflicted one of the Red Devils’ six home defeats last season and will fancy their chances of causing an opening-night upset.

United new boy Joshua Zirkzee is 4/1 to score the first goal, while a repeat of Fulham’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford in February is a 14/1 chance.

A late goal from Alex Iwobi was enough to give Fulham a 2-1 victory in their visit to Old Trafford in February and the Cottagers could get something from their opening Premier League match of the campaign.

Marco Silva is having to get used to life with Joao Palhinha and the experienced Tim Ream, but United have their own issues and the main one is an unsettled defence.

Top goal threat Hojlund is also missing and they have fallen flat at home in their curtain-raisers before, losing their opening game in three of the last five seasons.

They could not beat an understrength Manchester City in last weekend’s Community Shield and it may take them time to get going this term.
