Manchester United play host to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon (15.00) as the sides meet at Old Trafford on matchday three of the Premier League.

United have made a slow start to the season with a fortuitous win over Wolves on the opening weekend before being comfortably beaten by Spurs on the road five days later. Erik ten Hag will be looking for a much-improved display when Nottingham Forest come to town this weekend.

As for Forest, they are looking to claim their first top-flight away win since January and end their 29-year wait for a victory over the Red Devils.

Team News

United have suffered an injury crisis over the past few days, as reports emerged that Mason Mount is facing up to six weeks out after pulling his hamstring against Spurs last weekend.

Tyrell Malacia (muscle), Tom Heaton (calf), Amad Diallo (knee) and Kobbie Mainoo (ankle) all remain on the treatment table and they will be joined this weekend by Luke Shaw, who is battling a muscle injury.

Rasmus Hojlund may have to wait until after the September international break to make his United debut as he continues to recover from a back injury.

As for Forest, Ola Aina remains a doubt with a groin issue that kept him out of the win over Sheffield United, while former Manchester United man Anthony Elanga could return to haunt his former side here.

United were fortunate to pick up maximum points against Wolves in their opening game, as they were the inferior side at Old Trafford.

The performance against Spurs marked an improvement, especially in the first half, but the Red Devils lost control after the break and were deservedly defeated.

Coming into this game, United are battling with a number of injuries which could see them drop more points against a Nottingham Forest side who pushed Arsenal close in their first away contest of the campaign.

There are plenty of good players within the group, yet this team is not functioning efficiently as a collective so far and I think Forest could take advantage.

There were 18 corners in United’s 3-0 victory over Forest back in December last year, split equally between the two teams.

In addition, United’s meetings with Wolves and Tottenham both contained more than 11 corner kicks each, as did Forest’s 2-1 defeat against Arsenal and their victory over Sheffield United the following week.

United alone could easily get into double figures for corners as they seek a handsome victory to put the poor performances behind them, so backing 5 or more corners in each half looks to be the way to go.
