Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense Bet Builder Tips: Flu to shake off spirited South Africans

A three-way battle for qualification to the knockout stage has emerged in Group F of the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup, with Fluminense, Borussia Dortmund and Mamelodi Sundowns all vying for a top-two finish that would book their ticket to the last 16. Fluminense (first) and Dortmund (second) are currently on course to make it out of the group, but a victory over the Brazilians on Wednesday (20:00 BST, DAZN) would see Sundowns overtake their next opponents, and potentially the Germans, should they fail to beat Ulsan Hyundai.
Below are my Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense Bet Builder Tips ahead of the first-ever meeting between the sides, which will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense Bet Builder Tips
- Both Teams to Score - Yes

- Teboho Mokoena (SUN) Total Shots - 3+

Both Teams to Score - Yes
Goals were hard to come by in the opening round of fixtures in Group F as Fluminense's 0-0 draw with Dortmund was followed by Sundowns' 1-0 win against Ulsan HD.
However, the script was flipped in round two as Flu came from 2-1 down to beat Ulsan 4-2, while Sundowns put in a spirited performance against Dortmund, but ultimately fell to a 4-3 defeat.
It leaves things open in the group, though, with two teams, Flu and Dortmund, level on four points, and Sundowns just a point behind.
Dortmund will be expected to beat Ulsan, who have suffered back-to-back defeats, on Wednesday, which would mean Flu would need to claim all three points against Sundowns to secure top spot and avoid a likely last-16 meeting with Inter Milan, who will win Group E if they overcome River Plate on Thursday.
Sundowns, meanwhile, know that nothing but a victory over Flu will be enough for them to qualify to the knockouts.
As a result, we should see a fairly open affair in Miami Gardens, with both teams going for goals.
The top three teams in Group F have all scored four goals after two games, with Sundowns notching one in their opening contest before striking three times against Dortmund, and Flu getting all theirs in one big win over Ulsan.
BTTS-Yes has landed in three of Sundowns' last four matches, and five of Flu's last nine.
Double Chance - Draw or Fluminense
While I believe Sundowns can get on the scoresheet at Hard Rock Stadium, I don't think they will have quite enough to beat Flu, who are unbeaten after two group games.
The Tricolor more than held their own against Dortmund on June 17, restricting the Bundesliga giants to seven shots in East Rutherford, while they showed tremendous resilience to come from 2-1 down to beat Ulsan by two goals in the same borough four days later to extend their unbeaten run to eight games.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense Odds
Sundowns aren't a side to be taken lightly, as evidenced by the difficulties they caused Dortmund last Saturday, but ultimately, they came away from the contest empty-handed, and their only points on the board came from a slender win against Ulsan, who remain pointless after their first two matches.
Flu represent a few steps up in class on the South Koreans, as shown in the way they eventually came out on top at MetLife Stadium, and with the Brazilians only needing to avoid victory to secure a top-two finish, Sundowns might find it tough to find a way to win, particularly if the scores are level, or in Flu's favour, late on.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense Bet Builder Stats
- BTTS-Yes landed in both Group F games last Saturday
- Fluminense are unbeaten after two matches (W1, D1)
- Jhon Arias (FLU) has registered a shot on target in both CWC games this month (scored against Ulsan)
- Teboho Mokoena (SUN) recorded four shots against Ulsan, three against Dortmund
Jhon Arias (FLU) Total Shots on Target - 1+
Flu forward Jhon Arias forced a save from Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel with his third and final shot of the game against Niko Kovac's side, but he went one better against Ulsan, striking a superb free-kick past Jo Hyeon-woo to open the scoring in East Rutherford.
The Colombian has now registered a shot on target in his last three appearances for club and country, the first saved effort coming as a substitute against Lionel Messi's Argentina on June 11.
Arias has now hit the target in seven of his last eight outings for Flu, and with qualification to the last 16 of the Club World Cup on the line for Renato Gaucho's charges this week, he'll back himself to at least test Ronwen Williams in between Sundowns' sticks at Hard Rock Stadium.
Teboho Mokoena (SUN) Total Shots - 3+
Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena completes this Bet Builder, as I tip him to take at least three shots on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old, who has scored three times for Bafana ba Style this season, shot four times in his side's opening game against Ulsan, and three times in their next match against Dortmund.
Remarkably, all seven of his efforts have come from outside the penalty area, highlighting his confidence in striking from distance, even if none of them have been successful so far, and only one forcing a save from the opposition's goalkeeper.
He's certainly not shy to shoot, averaging 1.8 shots per game in the 2024/25 South African Premier League, and two per game in the CAF Champions League.
With Sundowns requiring three points to qualify for the last 16, expect Mokoena to try his luck a few more times in an attempt to finally get his name on the scoresheet in the competition.
