Lyon vs Strasbourg Prediction: Les Gones on for sixth straight success

The Coupe de France enters its quarter-final stage this week with Olympique Lyonnais and RC Strasbourg kicking off the action on Tuesday (KO, 19:45) at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Les Gones faced lower-league opposition in the first two rounds before knocking out Lille earlier this month, and they arrive into this tie in superb form after winning 10 of their last 12 games - including their last five - in all competitions.

Their form is in stark contrast to Strasbourg, who have lost their last three. In fact, their only wins in 2024 have all come in the Coupe de France.

Johann Lepenant is out of action with a sprained knee and Corentin Tolisso is sidelined with a thigh injury.

Rayan Cherki has started all three of Lyon's Coupe de France matches this term and looks likely to get the nod in the cup again, and he could be joined by Dejan Lovren and Said Benrahma, who came off the bench on Friday to net Lyon's winner at Metz.

Strasbourg trio Lebo Mothiba, Jeremy Sebas and Moise Sahi are still injured but Les Bleu et Blanc are boosted by the return of Thomas Delaine and Dilane Bakwa, who both missed Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Stade Brest through suspension.

Five of Lyon's seven wins since the turn of the year have seen at least three goals scored, including all three matches in the Coupe de France.

Strasbourg, meanwhile, have struggled to keep the ball out of their net, conceding three in each of the three defeats they have suffered in February. In fact, seven of their nine games in 2024 have seen more the over 2.5 bet land, with Patrick Vieira's side losing four of them.

Lyon have been strong at home since replacing Fabio Gross with Pierre Sage, winning five out of six at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, and their momentum should see them past Strasbourg on Tuesday.

Rayan Cherki to score anytime @ 18/5

The 20-year-old has endured a disappointing campaign in Ligue 1 so far, failing to score in 22 games, and has fallen out of favour to the point where he has started the last four league games on the bench.

However, Cherki has scored twice in the cup; he found the opener at Pontarlier on January 7 and struck the second in his side's 2-1 win over Lille on February 7.

The winger has started all three Coupe de France matches and should be restored to the starting XI once again on Tuesday.

At 18/5, he's a good price to extend his terrific record in the competition, which currently stands at nine goals in 14 appearances.
