This Sunday, Arne Slot will take charge of his first competitive match at Anfield, as Liverpool host Brentford (16:30, Sky Sports Main Event). The Reds won their opening game 2-0 against Ipswich, and they will be targeting another three points in front of their own fans as they face Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

Below you can find my Liverpool vs Brentford Bet Builder Tips, as the Bees also look to make it two wins from two.

Liverpool to win

I was pretty impressed with Liverpool at Portman Road. They navigated what was a tricky away test, with Ipswich back in the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, and came away with the points after a testing first half.

It was an important winning start for Slot and now he will feel the warmth of the Anfield crowd on Sunday. Although I think Brentford did well to win their opening game, they were handed a massive slice of fortune when Eberechi Eze’s free-kick was wrongly disallowed. I think the home side should win this game fairly comfortably.

BTTS

I think Brentford can find the net at Anfield, given their attacking strength. Although Ivan Toney is still in the middle of a transfer storm and will sit this one out, that might actually play into their hands as they can field a front three full of pace that can hurt Liverpool on the counter-attack.

Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade started against Crystal Palace and I would expect that to be the case again here, as Frank’s side will concede possession, and then look to strike on the break. I think they will be able to find the net at Anfield.

Mo Salah and Diogo Jota to score

I’m expecting Liverpool to win and both teams to find the net, but lets lengthen our odds by plumping for two home goalscorers. Mo Salah is the obvious pick, and he has looked incredibly sharp in the short time we have seen him so far this term. He scored at Ipswich, and looks set to shoulder the goalscoring responsibility under Slot, just as he did under his predecessor Jurgen Klopp.

Meanwhile, with Darwin Nunez left on the bench for the opener after his Copa America exploits, Diogo Jota looks to be the next smart selection to bag on Sunday afternoon. The Portuguese forward is so lethal in front of goal, and seems to flourish in that number nine role, flanked by Salah and Luis Diaz. Both of these guys scored at Ipswich, and I’m happy to back them to find the net again.

Vitaly Janelt to be booked

I’d expect a couple of Brentford midfielders to pick up cards in this one, given they will be determined to stop Liverpool’s attacks at all costs. I’m picking out deep-lying midfielder Vitalty Janelt on this occasion, based on the fact that he will have to deal with Alexis Mac Allister and potentially Cody Gakpo off the bench.

They are two tricky customers and Janelt isn’t scared of putting his foot in, having picked up 14 yellow cards in his Premier League career to date. The Anfield crowd will pile the pressure on the referee, and I think Janelt could well pick up a slice of cheddar on Sunday afternoon.
