Arguably the headline fixture of any Premier League season takes place at Anfield this Sunday (KO, 16:30), as table-toppers Liverpool host an ailing Manchester United side.

The Merseyside club are in rude health after three consecutive victories lifted them above Manchester City and Arsenal into first place, and they will be relishing a clash with their bitter rivals after beating them 7-0 at the same venue earlier this year.

The Red Devils aren't looking so good, however, after winning just one of their last five games in all competitions, and they are already 10 points behind Liverpool after just 16 league games.

Ahead of Sunday's clash, we've picked out a 9/1 treble using Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature.

Liverpool vs Man United Bet Builder Tips:

  • Liverpool half-time/full-time
  • Liverpool to win by 4+
  • Sofyan Amrabat to be carded

Liverpool half-time/full-time

The Reds have a perfect record at Anfield in all competitions this season, winning all 11 games at home. They've been helped by fast starts, with Jurgen Klopp's side going into half-time in the lead in seven of them.

Liverpool half-time/full-time has won in three out of the last five meetings between the bitter rivals, including the last two at Anfield, and they should be quick out of the blocks on Sunday in front of their own fans.

It only took Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke five minutes to fire past Andre Onana at Old Trafford last weekend, and United have only scored six first-half goals in the league this term.

Liverpool to win by 4+

Remarkably, United have only conceded 21 Premier League goals, but they're fortunate that total is not higher. They've seemingly saved their most disastrous defensive performances for Europe, but last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth was a reminder that they can be hit hard anywhere, at any time.

Most people are expecting Liverpool to wipe the floor with their opponents on Sunday, though they are a few, particularly of an Anfield persuasion, that wonder whether a siege mentality might help the visitors keep the score down.

Nevertheless, it's hard to look past a big win for Liverpool, who have hit United for seven, four and five without reply in three of the last four meetings.

Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez ran riot in the corresponding fixture last season, each scoring a brace in a 7-0 win, and they will surely be licking their lips at the opportunity to boost their season tallies against a side on their knees after a meek Champions League exit on Tuesday.

Sofyan Amrabat to be carded

It's a shame Bruno Fernandes is suspended on Sunday, given his penchant for a card in this fixture - the Premier League's champion whinger has three yellows in his last four against Liverpool.

However, in the Portuguese's absence, Sofyan Amrabat will take on increased responsibility in the midfield, and the Moroccan is a walking yellow card. He developed something of a reputation in Italy and has been booked five times since joining United on loan in the summer, including in midweek against Bayern Munich.

Amrabat will have his work cut out against the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, with tactical fouls sure to be on his mind.
