Hungary will look to book their place at Euro 2024 on Tuesday night when they travel to face Lithuania at the Darius and Girenas Stadium.

The Magyars have set the standard throughout the qualifying campaign, but Lithuania need to win and hope results go their way to have any chance of progressing.

The hosts need to win and hope Serbia lose to Montenegro, and we expect them to be up against it from the first whistle.

Lithuania vs Hungary Prediction

  • Hungary to win and both teams to score @ 13/5
  • Barnabas Varga to score anytime @ 5/4

Team News

Edgaras Jankauskas would love the chance to stick with his team after their 2-0 success over Bulgaria on Saturday, but the short turnaround may force him to make alterations.

Gvidas Gineitis left the field of play with 20 minutes remaining against Bulgaria and will need to prove his fitness. If he needs to be replaced, Edgaras Utkus will look to fill the void.

Hungary will be without midfielder Zsolt Kalmar after he received two yellow cards during the 2-1 success over Serbia. He was only introduced after the hour mark, meaning Callum Styles will just retain his spot in the starting XI.

With qualification up for grabs, Hungary boss Marco Rossi is expected to name the strongest team possible.

Match odds

Despite having home advantage, Lithuania are 12/1 to win on Tuesday. The draw is 9/2, while Hungary are 1/4 to pick up the three points they need to qualify from Group G.

Both teams to score is available at 6/4, while, with a high-scoring match expected, over 2.5 goals is priced at 4/5.

Varga is the favourite to score anytime at 5/4, while Martin Adam closely follows him in that market at 7/5.

Hungary to win and both teams to score (yes) @ 13/5

Hungary have enjoyed a recent upturn in results and they are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions. Rossi’s team have won six of those encounters and they continue to impress in their quest to reach Germany next summer.

In the first meeting between the two sides, Hungary ran out 2-0 winners in June, before they then beat Serbia home and away 2-1.

Lithuania’s win over Bulgaria was their first success since March 2022, when they defeated San Marino.

While they should come unstuck, they have scored in four of their last five at home, so they should be able to trouble the scoresheet.

Barnabas Varga to score anytime @ 13/10

Ferencvaros striker Varga is a man in form, he has scored eight goals in eight appearances for his club since the start of the new season.

He netted in the win over Serbia last time out and his form is too good to ignore.

For club and country, Varga has scored eight goals in 10 appearances and he has every chance of netting the goal that sends Hungary to Euro 2024.
