Liechtenstein vs Kazakhstan Prediction: Both teams looking to respond

Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan will both fancy themselves against one another when the two teams meet in a Fifa World Cup qualifier at Rheinpark Stadion on Tuesday (19:45, YouTube). Their respective campaigns started with defeat, with the hosts losing to North Macedonia and Kazakhstan to Wales.
The home team are winless in their last four appearances across all competitions, while Kazakhstan are in worse shape with six defeats on the spin. This is a huge game for both teams, with neither a consistent winning force. Read on for my Liechtenstein vs Kazakhstan predictions, supported by the latest match odds and team news.
Liechtenstein vs Kazakhstan Odds
Liechtenstein are 8/1 to secure the three points here but they haven't managed a competitive victory since September 2020, which came against San Marino in the Uefa Nations League.
Kazakhstan may be winless in their previous six appearances but their latest triumph in a competitive fixture came more recently in a Uefa Euro 2024 qualifier, also against San Marino, in November 2023. They are perceived as the favourites on this occasion and are 1/3 to come away with the win.
Given the history and form of the two teams, a draw may be considered a smart selection at 3/1 (which has an implied probability of 25%). This has been the outcome in three of Lichtenstein's past 10 matches.
At least one team has failed to score in eight of Kazakshstan's last 10 games and BTTS No is on offer at 8/15 (65.2%).
Team News
Liechtenstein coach Konrad Funfstuck decided to add some fresh faces to the first camp of 2025, with five being added to the squad for the very first time.
Willy Pizzi, one of the five, made his debut at the weekend and he could link up with Dennis Salanovic at the top end of the pitch once again.
Bruhl forward Ferhat Saglam will be itching to dislodge one of the two in what is likely to be another 5-3-2 formation, and he could come under consideration given the lack of potency in front of goal against North Macedonia last time out.
Several players are missing from this squad following November's 3-1 loss to San Marino, such as goalkeeper Justin Ospelt, defender Noah Frommelt, and midfielders Marcel Buchel, Livio Meier and Liam Kranz.
Kazakhstan's ranks are filled with 32 players this month and they are skippered by Askhat Tagybergen, who earned his 60th cap at the weekend. His goal from the penalty spot against Wales may have been a consolation but it would have given him a boost from an individual standpoint, and his teammates look to him for inspiration.
They boast a more experienced attacking lineup to their hosts, which they hope will play into their hands on Tuesday. Aybar Zhaksylykov was preferred to Adana Demirspor striker Abat Aymbetov on Saturday, but there could be a switch-up against Lichtenstein.
Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov, another centre-forward, has missed out on this camp because he has been pushed down the pecking order at Besiktas.
Under 2.5 goals @ 4/5
One thing that is expected from both these teams is a lack of goals. It is rare that these sides will get more than one if they do get on the scoresheet. There have ben plenty of games recently in which they have failed to score, so I think this makes under 2.5 goals an attractive selection for Tuesday.
There have been less than three goals scored in five of Lichtenstein's past eight matches across all competitions, while under 2.5 goals has also been a winning selection in three of Kazakhstan's last four games.
Both teams aren't in the best of form and their attackers are struggling, which has me believe that we won't be witnessing many goals, if any, when they meet.

Both teams to score - No @ 8/15
Following on from that, I also think it's fair to assume that at least one of the teams won't get on the scoresheet. Earlier I mentioned that BTTS No has been a successful bet in eight of Kazakstan's last 10 fixtures, and in seven of them the Hawks failed to score.
In Lichtenstein's last 10 appearances in all competitions, this market has struck on seven occasions. The Blue-Reds failed to get on the scoresheet in six of them, so I think that we will witness this trend continue on Tuesday evening.
