Leyton Orient ended a painful run of five consecutive losses with victory over Blackpool last time out, and they will look to give their play-off push another boost when they host Stevenage on Thursday night in League 1 (20:00, Sky Sports Football).

Below you can find my Leyton Orient vs Stevenage predictions, featuring team news and betting tips.

Team News

After a long 11-day break since their 2-1 win at Bloomfield Road, Richie Wellens will try and balance his squad ahead of a busy period of fixtures. Charlie Kelman will start up front after his brace in Blackpool, while Diallang Jaiyesimi and Daniel Aygei should line up in the wide attacking areas.

Jamie Donley could play in place of Azeem Abdulai with the Spurs loanee hoping to add to the six goals he has already registered this season. Defender Jack Simpson came off at half-time and was replaced by Brandon Cooper, so it will be interesting to see which of the two starts at the back here, alongside Rarmani Edmonds-Green.

Leyton Orient vs Stevenage Stats

  • Orient ending a run of five defeats with a 2-1 win over Blackpool
  • Stevenage haven't won in their last three

Stevenage have also had the same break since their 1-1 draw at Reading. Alex Revell will once again rely on goalkeeper Murphy Mahoney, behind the strong duo of Charlie Goode and Carl Piergianni, who scored at both ends last time out.

Jordan Roberts and Dan Kemp will hope to provide the attacking thrust from midfield behind Brandon Hanlan - although Jake Young is also pushing for a starting spot in the 4-2-3-1 system.

Leyton Orient vs Stevenage Odds

The home side have been priced up at 5/4 to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 44%. Meanwhile, Stevenage are available at 12/5 having won five and drawn six of their 18 away matches so far. A draw can be backed at 11/5, while over 2.5 goals is 11/8 having come in during 54% of Orient’s matches.

Leyton Orient to win @ 5/4

This is a tough one to predict in truth, but I will lean in favour of the home side. I really like Wellens as a manager and think he is a really good fit at Orient, but the run of five defeats was concerning. Although the results were bad on the surface, four of the five came by one goal and the other was a 2-0 loss to runaway leaders Birmingham City.

They haven’t become a bad team overnight and they showed great strength to overcome Blackpool away from home last time out. Orient have picked up 30 points from 19 home games so far at Brisbane Road and Stevenage are winless in their last three fixtures. I’ll go for a home success.

Charlie Kelman to score anytime @ 23/10

Kelman is the most likey goalscorer for the home side so let’s back him to find the net at some point during this one. At 23, the QPR loanee is making a big impression in the third tier and given his form, is likely to play a big role at Loftus Road next term.

He’s now scored 14 goals in 37 League 1 appearances this season but his recent form in particular has been excellent. He’s now scored six goals in his last eight League 1 matches and I’m expecting him to pick up where he left off as he competes with Richard Kone and Jay Stansfield for the Golden Boot.
