Leyton orient vs huddersfield town betting tips

There are nine League 1 games taking place on a bumper Tuesday night schedule and here we are covering the match from Brisbane Road, as struggling Leyton Orient take on promotion-chasing Huddersfield Town.

Our very own Terrier Adam Roberts is on hand to preview this one and he's given us his Leyton Orient vs Huddersfield Town Prediction, as well as all the latest odds, stats and team news.

Leyton Orient vs Huddersfield Betting Tips

  • Huddersfield to win @ 13/10
  • Huddersfield to win, BTTS and Ben Wiles to score (Bet Builder) @ 10/1

Two sides at the opposite ends of the table face-off on Tuesday night (19:45), as a rescheduled fixture due to an international break takes place in east London.

Orient slipped into the relegation spots on Saturday afternoon, following a goalless draw at Stevenage but manager Richie Wellens will be encouraged by a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions, including back-to-back home wins at Brisbane Road. However, the Os have just 15 points from as many fixtures and badly need to continue that run to pull away from the threat of a drop down to League 2 come the end of the season.

The toughest fixture of that recent run of games takes place tonight, as high-flying Huddersfield ride in to town, on the back of their own six-game unbeaten run in the third tier, which has seen them rise to fifth in the table and just four points behind third place, with a couple of games in hand.

They pulled off a sixth-straight win at home against Charlton Athletic at the weekend but Michael Duff will be under no illusion that Tuesday could be a much tougher assignment in the capital.

The Terriers haven't won away since a magnificent 4-0 drubbing of Bolton Wanderers back in mid-September and their recent trips south have been pretty abject, losing to part-time Tamworth in the cup and drawing with lowly Crawley Town.

If Town have any pretensions of being genuine automatic promotion candidates, then these are the sort of games they have to start winning. For Orient, a loss here would have them looking over their shoulders and staring at the opening abyss.

Team news

Wellens is without Ollie O'Neill who picked up a fifth yellow card on Saturday and misses out through suspension. Other than that the hosts have no new injury issues.

Duff reaffirmed in his pre-match press conference that Matty Pearson and Rhys Healey would be facing potentially long spells on the sideline through injuries picked up in the Charlton win and none of the players who have recently returned to light training are available for selection yet.

Leyton Orient are the 23/10 outsiders to pick up three points, giving them an implied win probability of just over 30%, while Huddersfield are the 13/10 favourites, or a 43.5% chance.

The draw is available at a price of 11/5, with both teams to score at Evens and over 2.5 goals at 11/8, indicating a cagey match could be in the offering.

Huddersfield to win @ 13/10

I am in complete agreement with Duff's assessment of this game, as he warned Town supporters and (perhaps more importantly) his travelling squad, that this would be no cakewalk and not to show any complacency, or the trip back on the M1 would be a very long one.

Orient have started to show some genuine form and fight under Wellens in recent weeks and due to the Tuesday night rescheduling, the Terriers likely won't be cheered on by the usual full-house of support that would have had the benefit of a bit of throat-lubrication around London's many watering holes.

However, the belief is starting to grow in West Yorkshire that this season could be a special one and the team have showed plenty of resilience in recent weeks to maintain this unbeaten run.

I'm sure we will see some troubling times on Tuesday evening but I'm fairly confident that the Huddersfield squad has enough quality to pick up a much-needed three points on the road.

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Huddersfield to win, BTTS and Ben Wiles to score (Bet Builder) @ 10/1

As mentioned above, despite picking an away win, I think both sides will have their share of joy in this game and fully expect goals at both ends. Orient have scored goals against both Blackpool and Rotherham in recent home games, so have shown they can register against the better sides in the division.

To complete the treble, I've included Town top-scorer Ben Wiles to get on the score sheet once more. The pacy midfielder has bagged five already this season and has shown he has a keen eye for goal. I like his chances of doing so again at Brisbane Road, in front of an adoring travelling support.

The three selections pay out at 10/1 at the time of writing. Good luck and enjoy the game...
