Leeds United are already planning for life in the Premier League next season, but they will want to go up as champions and hit that 100-point mark. On Monday night, (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event) they host play-off hopefuls Bristol City at Elland Road, with the Robins also in need of all three points.

Below you can find my Leeds vs Bristol City predictions featuring team news and match odds.

Team News

It will be interesting to see how Daniel Farke approaches this one after a week of celebration. I feel the focus will quickly turn to events back on the pitch as Leeds know that two wins will secure the title, so I’m not expecting a raft of changes.

Joel Piroe should start up front again after his four-goal haul vs Stoke while Willy Gnonto and Largie Ramazani will battle it out for a spot on the wing. Patrick Bamford is an alternative option up front while we can expect the defensive unit to remain unchanged.

Leeds vs Bristol City Stats

  • Leeds have won their last four
  • BTTS have scored in the last five Bristol City games
  • Joel Piroe scored four goals vs Stoke

One player to keep an eye on is Harry Gray, the 16-year-old brother of Archie, and part of that illustrious footballing family. He made his debut against Stoke off the bench and could get more minutes over these last two matches.

Bristol City lost at Luton last time out so Liam Manning may be tempted into a few changes for this tough test. Sinclair Armstrong may lead the line in place of Nahki Wells to provide a more physical presence while George Earthy is an alternate option in midfield. Scott Twine could provide more attacking thrust but you feel Manning will set his team up not to lose, given they host Preston on the final day and only require three more points to confirm their spot in the top six.

Leeds vs Bristol City Odds

Leeds are the favourites to win this game, priced at 4/7 to make it 18 home wins out of 23 for the campaign. Bristol City can be backed at 5/1 to take all three points while a draw is available at 3/1.

Over 2.5 goals has come in during 43% of Bristol City’s fixtures this term and BTTS have scored in their last five, and that is 10/11. Piroe, on course to win the Golden Boot, is 4/1 to open the scoring in this one.

Leeds to win and BTTS @ 23/10

Leeds’ imperious home for has carried them to the Premier League and I think we have to side with them again in this one. I’m not massively keen on backing teams that have already secured promotion but, I will make an exception in Farke’s case. He’s shown time and time again that he can win the title at this level, and knowing that two wins will be enough to do that once again, and hit that 100-point mark will be a significant motivating factor.

Bristol City are a good team and I expect them to be in the play-offs by the time play comes to an end next weekend, but they’ve picked up just two points from their last four away matches. Their Ashton Gate form has carried them up to fifth, and I think they will end their season with another away defeat.

I’m happy to back both teams to get on the scoresheet here however to boost our odds. Leeds have scored 89 goals across the Championship season so we have no issues there, while Bristol City have seen both teams score in their last five outings. Decent price here.

Joel Piroe to score @ 7/5

Sorry to be boring here,  but I want to back a winner. Piroe has had some critics throughout the season, which seems bizarre given he has now got 19 goals to his name, but he’s always retained the faith of his manager. Despite calls for him to play in the number 10 role, he’s played up front for the majority of the campaign and is clearly one of the best finishers in the division.

His four-goal haul against Stoke has surely secured the Golden Boot, and ended a run of nine Championship games without a goal. He can take that confidence into this home game, and score another important goal against Bristol City.
