League One returns this weekend with a full round of games, and with unbeaten Portsmouth leading the way, we’ve taken a look at the match-ups to put together an accumulator for you to consider.

League One Accumulator Tips:

  • Portsmouth to beat Charlton @ 4/6
  • Barnsley to beat Derby @ 10/3
  • Shrewsbury Town to beat Reading @ 5/4

Treble pays 16/1

Portsmouth to beat Charlton @ 4/6

Unbeaten league leaders Portsmouth host an improving Charlton outfit at Fratton Park. Pompey boast the best home record in the league, having won six and drawn two of their home matches so far, while the Addicks have one of the worst away records.

They’ve only won one of six on the road, their last outing against Wigan. However, they were held by Cray Valley Paper Mills in the FA Cup 1st round, a result that did not go down well with the natives. The pressure is on here to deliver, but they are facing arguably the best side in the division. I’m backing Pompey to get another home win.

Barnsley to beat Derby @ 10/3

When looking for value in League One this weekend, the price that instantly caught my eye was the 10/3 on Barnsley to beat Derby at Pride Park. The Tykes have got themselves up to fifth in the league, while Derby sit three points behind them in seventh.

More importantly however, the feeling around Paul Warne at Derby isn’t ideal. He was meant to lead them on a title charge, yet instead, one of the best squads in the league is struggling to find any sustained form. They beat Northampton 4-0 at home in their last league game, but then drew 2-2 with League Two Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup.

With a distinctly average home record, they now host the team with the best away record in League One. Barnsley have won five and drawn two of their away matches so far, and under Neil Collins look like a really competitive outfit this term. With tensions rising at Derby, I believe the big price on offer for Barnsley to win is well worth backing.

Shrewsbury Town to beat Reading @ 5/4

I’d back a Sunday league team to beat Reading at the moment. This week it was reported that they are losing £400k a week, the club is currently up for sale and, on the pitch, they are a mess. Their last league win came on the 16th September, and although they beat MK Dons in the FA Cup, they could struggle against Shrewsbury.

With key man Jordan Shipley back fit, they beat Colchester in the FA Cup, and while their away form has been miserable (only Reading’s is worse), they have won four of eight at home, including a 1-0 win over Derby County. I’m back another home win here, to pile the misery onto Reading.
