Bolton vs Stockport Prediction: Hatters set for another high-scoring game at Wembley

A battle of the north-west will be fought inside Wembley Stadium on Sunday as Bolton Wanderers and Stockport meet in the League One play-off final (1pm, Sky Sports Main Event). Stockport may feel as though they hold the psychological advantage as they have not lost to the Trotters in the two meetings so far this term.
Read on for my Bolton vs Stockport predictions, accompanied by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Corey Blackett-Taylor is ruled out for Bolton with a thigh injury, but the Trotters don't have any fresh concerns heading into Sunday's clash.
Boss Steven Schumacher is likely going to name the same XI that started both semi-final legs against Bradford City. He will hope that their defensive organisation can help them to victory against the Hatters.
Stockport are without the services of Brad Hills (cruciate ligament), Arttu Hoskonen (groin) and Tyler Onyango (hamstring) due to injury.
The Hatters have been light in defensive areas lately, leading to Dave Challinor deploying his top scorer, Kyle Wootton, at centre-back. This didn't stop the striker from scoring against Stevenage in the second leg of the semi-final. He also boasts a goal against Bolton already this term.
Adama Sidibeh and Louie Barry are expected to combine in attack once again, with the former bagging against the Trotters in April's meeting at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
Bolton vs Stockport Predicted Lineups
- Bolton: Bonham; Osei-Tutu, Toal, Forino-Joseph, Johnston; Erhahon, Sheehan; Cozier-Duberry, Rodrigues, Cissoko; Burstow
- Stockport: Addai; Dacres-Cogley, Wootton, Pye, Edun; Norwood, Bailey, Osborn, Stokes; Sidibeh, Barry
Bolton are 13/8 to prevail inside regulation time on Sunday as they seek a third consecutive victory. The Trotters are 4/5 to win the tie.
The latest meeting was a 2-2 draw and the stalemate here can be backed at 23/10.
Stockport are also given a 13/8 chance of triumphing inside 90 minutes, while they are 10/11 to win the tie.
Neither side conceded a goal during their semi-final legs and Both Teams To Score - No is priced at 10/11 on this occasion.
They are both marketed at 21/10 to keep a clean sheet.
Bolton vs Stockport Stats
- BTTS - Yes & Over 3.5 Goals has landed in 4 of Bolton's past 8 matches, including against Stockport in the league
- This bet has struck in 5 of the Hatters' past 10 competitive fixtures
Both Teams To Score & Total Goals Over/Under 3.5 Goals - Yes & Over @ 14/5
I think this final is a tough one to call. Both sides have had strong seasons and many would've expected this to be the final once the semi-finals were set. While I may not feel confident in predicting the outcome of the fixture, I do believe that we will be in for an entertaining final.
I'm backing Both Teams To Score and Over 3.5 Goals because it landed in their most recent meeting in April. On top of that, it has been a winning selection in four of Bolton's last eight competitive matches.
For Stockport, this bet has struck in five of their past 10 outings in all competitions, including their EFL Trophy final defeat against Luton Town inside this stadium in April.
Given the quality that both sides possess in attacking areas, I think there will be plenty of goals on offer at Wembley on Sunday.

Away Team Total Goals - Over 1.5 @ 13/8
I'm still not leaning any particular way in the result but I do like the look of the 13/8 (implied probability of 38.1%) price for Stockport to score at least two goals in regulation time on Sunday.
This is because they have managed this feat in three of the four meetings in League One over the past two seasons, including both encounters this campaign. Across their last 11 competitive games, the Hatters have scored Over 1.5 Goals on eight occasions.
