The 2023-24 League One gets underway on Saturday and there are several players who will be hoping to be the third tier’s top scorer.

League One Top Scorer Tips

  • Jonson Clarke-Harris League One Top scorer – 11/2
  • Dion Charles League One Top scorer – 11/1

Jonson Clarke-Harris League One Top scorer – 11/2

Peterborough United’s Jonson Clarke-Harris is the favourite to finish the 2023-24 season as the top goalscorer in League One.

The striker was the leading marksman in the third tier last season with an astonishing 26 goals as Posh finished in the play-offs, before cruelly missing out on the final after Sheffield Wednesday’s incredible comeback in the semi-finals. The 29-year-old has scored 57 goals in his last two League One campaigns. He knows the division inside and out and he is very likely to have another profitable season in front of goal.

Colby Bishop is another player who enjoyed a mesmerising campaign in 2022-23. The Portsmouth forward scored 20 goals in League One and is being tipped for another fruitful year for Pompey. Many are expecting big things from Portsmouth this year under manager John Mousinho after the impact he made since taking up the post midway through the season. Bishop was a key player for Pompey and given the ambitions the club has for the upcoming term, his goals will be crucial. He is priced at 8/1.

Dion Charles League One Top scorer – 11/1

Bolton Wanderers had an enjoyable year in 2022-23 as they made it to the play-offs under Ian Evatt. They were beaten by Barnsley in the semi-finals but many are expecting the Trotters to be there or thereabouts this time around, with some tipping them to finish in the automatic spots. Attacker Dion Charles contributed 17 goals last term and the Northern Irishman will be integral to any success Bolton have in 2023-24. Charles is 11/1 to finish as the League One top scorer.

Devante Cole League One Top scorer – 20/1

After losing the play-off final, manager Michael Duff and key defender Mads Andersen, it is difficult to predict how Barnsley might fare this year under new boss Neill Collins. The Scotsman has a lot to live up to from his predecessor but one thing that remains at Oakwell is their leading scorer from the previous campaign, Devante Cole.

The 28-year-old delivered 15 goals in the league for the Tykes last time out and during this transitional period his goals might be more important than ever. Collins will entrust the experienced forward to spearhead Barnsley’s attack and help secure a top-six finish for the south Yorkshire outfit. Cole is valued at 20/1 to win the Golden Boot in League One.
