Match Preview:

Real Madrid's bid to extend their 100% start to the 2025/26 season takes them to Valencia on Tuesday night. Newly promoted Levante serve up the opposition.

These clubs haven't met since La Liga 2021/22 when both meetings produced six goals. Vinícius Júnior bagged a brace in the first of those games at the Estadi Ciutat de València, with Gareth Bale also on target in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Vinícius also scored three times in the reverse fixture, which ended in a 6-0 win for what was then Carlo Ancelotti's side.

The Brazilian most likely wishes the Italian was still in charge, at least if media reports are to be believed. The 25-year-old has already been benched twice by Xabi Alonso, and reacted angrily when he was substituted after a good performance in Madrid's 2-0 weekend win over Espanyol.

With the Basque coach seemingly determined to also use Rodrygo on the left flank, there's every chance the two Brazilians could rotate again in this fixture. That would only add to the attention being placed on the Vinícius issue, which is in danger of becoming an unwelcome sideshow for the Real Madrid boss.

Alonso will at least be happy with most of what he is seeing from his team on the pitch. With Kylian Mbappé setting the tone with some dominant attacking displays, they've won all six competitive fixtures so far this term. The Frenchman has scored seven of their 12 goals in all competitions.

There have also been some lively displays from 18-year-old Franco Mastantuono on the right flank. He is clearly very confident, and is averaging two dribbles and 1.8 shots per game in La Liga. The Argentine could fall victim to rotation here, though, with Real Madrid sure to have one eye on this weekend's derby against Atlético.

That may serve up a glimmer of hope for Levante, who recorded their first victory back at this level on Saturday away against Girona. That bottom-of-the-table clash was a surprisingly one-sided affair, largely as a result of a capitulation from the Catalans, who were playing with nine men by the 46th minute.

To their credit, the newly promoted side took full advantage. Julián Calero's men cruised to a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Karl Etta Eyong, Iván Romero, Carlos Álvarez and Goduine Koyalipou. They also hit the woodwork on three occasions, as hapless Girona were spared an even more humiliating afternoon.

Levante are now the joint-fourth-highest scorers in La Liga as a result of that. While that certainly exaggerates the attacking quality that exists in this squad, they do look to have pulled off a real coup with the €3m deadline-day addition of Etta Eyong, who has done a good job of leading the line.

While they'd only picked up one point before thumping Girona, the Granotas can also take some confidence from having scored twice against both Barcelona and Real Betis at home. However, it's true that they did fade badly in both games after taking a two-goal lead, ultimately losing 3-2 to Barça and drawing 2-2 against Betis.

Team News:

The hosts are expected to have a full squad to pick from. Calero will likely be mulling over whether to stick with a winning lineup, or bring in fresh legs for this testing fixture. The latter approach looks more likely, with Jon Ander Olasagasti, Pablo Martínez and José Luis Morales among those who may come in.

Alonso will have a similar dilemma, particularly with such a huge encounter to come on Saturday. Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Álvaro Carreras are the only three outfield players to have started all six of Real Madrid's competitive games so far this term, and therefore those most in need of a rest.

Dean Huijsen is set to return in central defence following suspension, while Arda Güler should also rotate back in. The fit-again Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga both featured briefly off the bench against Espanyol, and could get longer cameos in this game. However, Antonio Rüdiger and Trent Alexander-Arnold remain sidelined with injuries.

Levante vs Real Madrid Predicted Lineups

  • Levante: Ryan, Toljan, Elgezabal, Moreno, Sanchez, Vencedor, Olasagasti, Rey, Alvarez, Romero, Etta Eyong
  • Real Madrid: Courtois, Carvajal, Huijsen, Militao, Carreras, Valverde, Tchouameni, Diaz, Guler, Vinicius, Mbappe

Match Odds:

Real Madrid are the 1/3 favourites to win this match, and extend their 100% start to the campaign. Levante are available at 15/2 to spring a surprise, while you can back the Draw at 9/2.

If you're expecting goals, Both teams to score is priced at 8/11, while you can back there to be Over 3.5 goals at 6/5, a bet that has landed in three of the home team's last four matches.

Los Blancos are priced at 1/1 to score over 2.5 goals. Punters can also back the visitors to win both halves at 7/4, while they're priced at 7/5 to win the game to nil.

Mbappé leads the way as the 12/5 favourite to score first, while the ex-PSG man is priced at 3/5 to score anytime. Vinícius can be backed at 11/10 to get on the scoresheet, while Rodrygo is on offer at 13/8 in the same market.

The hosts may turn to club legend Morales. He has scored five career goals against Los Blancos, and is available at 11/4 to get on the scoresheet on Tuesday night.

Levante vs Real Madrid Stats

  • Real Madrid still have a 100% record in La Liga.
  • Levante have won only one game from their first five.
  • Levante are 60% for BTTS and the same for Over 2.5 Goals.
  • Real Madrid are 40% for BTTS with a much-better 80% rate for Over 2.5 Goals.

Bet 1 - Karl Etta Eyong to score anytime @ 13/5

The home team's main goal threat is likely to come from Etta Eyong. The 21-year-old has made a stunning start to the 2025/26 season, having a big impact for two different Valencian clubs in La Liga, either side of a late summer transfer.

Having already scored once and assisted twice for Villarreal, the 21-year-old has now also netted twice and assisted once for his new club in just two outings. Only Mbappé can match his tally of six goal contributions in the Spanish top flight.

While Villarreal typically do good business, it does seem like they might have dropped a clanger by letting the young striker leave for just €3m. He's clearly got a physical presence and an eye for goal, and I'm backing Etta Eyong to score anytime at 13/5 here.

Bet 2 - Over 0.5 first-half goals & Real Madrid to win the second half @ 20/21

Levante have started their two home games positively. They caused problems for Barcelona on the break to take a two-goal lead at the interval, and needed just 10 minutes to net twice against Betis.

Fresh from a big win on the road, they should take confidence into this one, and will fancy they can ruffle a few feathers in what may be a rotated Real Madrid defence.

That adds to the likelihood of a first-half goal in this fixture, but whoever starts for the away team, they will have real quality to bring off the bench. Alonso should have his full quota of attacking and midfield options available, and they should ultimately take control when their opponents start to tire.

Given that, I'm using the Bet Builder to back Over 0.5 first-half goals and Real Madrid to win the second half at 20/21.
