Kilmarnock vs Tromso Prediction: Tight encounter likely at Rugby Park

Kilmarnock were beaten by Cercle Brugge in the Europa League qualifiers, but they now have an opportunity to progress in the Conference League.
Derek McInnes’ men take on Norwegian side Tromso, who have the chance to reach the group stage of the competition for the first time in their history, as the pair clash in the third qualifying round. Read on for my Kilmarnock vs Tromso prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Team News
Kilmarnock have no major injury concerns and they have come out of the weekend’s clash with Celtic unscathed.
Marley Watkins and Kyle Vassell are likely to keep their places in attack, with Stuart Findlay marshalling the defence, although Robbie Deas is available despite a domestic suspension.
For the visitors Miika Koskela is out with a back injury, but the young centre-half would have been unlikely to feature for the visitors anyway.
Jakob Napoleon Romsaas is Tromso’s leading attacking force and the 20-year-old is likely to lead the line at Rugby Park alongside Lasse Nordas
Kilmarnock are 7/5 to take a first-leg advantage at Rugby Park, Tromso are 13/8 and the draw is available at 11/5.
Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11
Kilmarnock will have been disappointed to lose to Cercle Brugge in the Europa League qualifiers, but Killie were completive in that contest and they didn’t give up a huge amount of opportunities.
McInnes’ men allowed the Belgian side just six shots on target across those two legs and there were just three goals in that pair of matches.
Kilmarnock are a defensively robust side, especially at Rugby Park, and a flurry of goals doesn’t look likely in this fixture, even if Killie have won just one of their last eight competitive fixtures.
There have been only seven goals in Tromso’s last seven matches and the Boys have scored only once in their last three games, so backing under 2.5 goals has to be a play.
Tromso’s struggles are laid even more bare by the fact that they lie in 13th place in the 16-team Eliteserien and they have scored 18 goals in 18 league games so far this season.
Kilmarnock to win 1-0 @ 17/2
At 17/2, a small bet on Kilmarnock to win 1-0 could also pay dividends. Killie were hammered 4-0 by Celtic at the weekend, but McInnes would have had one eye on this European tie and the Hoops are a class above Tromso.
The Norwegians have won only three of their nine away games this term, they have hit only five goals on the road and the Boys look set for more struggles on their trip to Rugby Park.
