Kilmarnock vs Rangers Prediction: Gers can secure another clean sheet

Despite a strong start to the season, Rangers have been left in the dust by the perfect form of Celtic and Aberdeen, who meet at Celtic Park this weekend. Rangers’ next test comes on Sunday against Kilmarnock (12:00, Sky Sports Football), as Phillipe Clement looks to close the gap on the top two.
Meanwhile, Killy have only won one league match so far this season, but it came last time out as they secured an outstanding late comeback win over Dundee, having been 2-0 down in the 85th minute. Below you can find my Kilmarnock vs Rangers prediction with team news and betting tips.
Team News
Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes is in the fortunate position of being able to choose from a near fully-fit squad for this one, with Kyle Magennis the only absentee. Coventry loanee Jack Burroughs could come in at wing-back, while Matty Kennedy wil be on a high after his two-goal contribution to the comeback win over Dundee. Kyle Vassell is expected to continue up front in this 3-4-3 formation.
Meanwhile for Rangers, it’s less positive. Ianis Hagi is out for the next two matches following his red card against St Johnstone, and Oscar Cortes is now sidelined until 2025 with the injury he picked up on the opening day. Tom Lawrence is racing to get back to full fitness in time, while Ross McCausland should be fine for this one after a knock on international duty. Rabbi Matondo, Ridvan Yilmaz and Danilo Pereira remain long-term absentees for the Gers.
Kilmarnock are priced at 5/1 to win this game, with Rangers the favourites at 1/2. A draw can be backed at 7/2, over 2.5 goals is 4/7 and BTTS is 4/6. Cyriel Dessers is the favourite to open the scoring at 7/2.
Rangers to win to nil @ 13/8
Although I’ve not been massively impressed with Rangers this season, I am going to back them to win this one to nil. I think their record of five wins, one draw and one defeat is actually fairly positive, and perhaps their performances don’t deserve the 16 points they have on the board so far.
The Light Blues had a Vaclav Cerny double to thank for getting them maximum points against St Johnstone in what was a difficult test, and they were lucky that Hibernian’s Mykola Kukharevych missed from the penalty spot in their 1-0 success.
They should win this game, but I can’t see them making it all that easy. They’ve kept clean sheets in five of their last six games, so let’s back them to keep another one here, and win to nil.

Cyriel Dessers to score @ 5/4
Dessers is clearly Clement’s main man this season, and he has scored seven goals in 13 appearances in all competitions this term. Usually taken off around the 60-minute mark, it would be better for us is Dessers gets the full 90, but either way he should find the net against a leaky Killy defence.
McInnes’ men have let in a whopping 17 goals in seven games, including seven in their last three. Dessers should be able to take full advantage of their lack of confidence at the back, as the away side secure an important three points.
