Europa conference scaled

There is a single offering from the Conference League on Wednesday and it takes place in Turkey as Istanbul Basaksehir entertain Moldovan outfit Petrocub.

It hasn't been a glorious run for either side so far, with Petrocub propping up the 36-team table after three straight losses, and Basaksehir current;y in 32nd spot having only gathered a single point from their three attempts.

The Turks have a chance to kick-start their European campaign if they can register three points and will be confident of doing just that against a visiting side that has looked limited to this point.

Read on for my Istanbul Basaksehir vs Petrocub prediction, including the latest match odds and team news.

Istanbul Basaksehir vs Petrocub Betting Tips

  • Istanbul Basaksehir to win and over 3.5 Goals @ 13/8
  • Krzysztof Piatek to score first @ 11/4

Istanbul Basaksehir vs Petrocub Odds

Hosts Basaksehir are heavily favoured at odds of 1/7 to get their first win of the competition. The Moldovan visitors have struggled and are rank outsiders at 20/1 to record a shock win, while the draw is available at 13/2.

Over 2.5 goals in the game is priced at 8/13, while Basaksehir are 8/15 to lead at half-time and full-time, with the hosts trading at 11/10 to win both halves. Home striker Krzysztof Piatek can be backed at 11/4 to score the opening goal.

Team News

Deniz Turuc went off in the first half of Basaksehir's Super Lig defeat at Gaziantep and will be assessed for this game. Omer Ali Sahiner and Davidson were both absent in that 0-3 loss on the road with injuries.

The likes of Matchoi Djalo, Eren Karaagac, Patryk Szysz and Yusuf Yilmaz are not part of the European squad.

Similar sentiments go for Petrocub trio Dumitru Bivol, Constantin Sandu, and Nicky Clescenc, but that aside boss Andrei Martin doesn't appear to have any major injury worries amongst the squad he does have at his disposal.

Istanbul Basaksehir to win and over 3.5 Goals @ 13/8

Petrocub have shipped nine goals in three games so far. They are likely to be in for another tough examination despite Basaksehir failing to win any of their last six domestic league games.

The Turks have been high on entertainment value despite picking up just one point so far in Europe.

They went down 2-1 at home to Rapid Vienna on matchday one, then suffered a 5-1 drubbing against NK Celje in Slovenia.

Last time out in the Conference League, they twice took the lead in Denmark against Copenhagen but had to settle for a 2-2 draw. They won't get a better chance to put three points on the board and are fancied to do so. At the prices a home win and over 3.5 total goals appeals.

Krzysztof Piatek to score first @ 11/4

Polish forward Krzysztof Piatek has been on the books at AC Milan and Hertha Berlin in the past and, after a couple of seasons back in Italy on loan from Hertha, he signed a permanent deal with Basaksehir in the summer of 2023.

The 29-year-old scored 17 Super Lig goals last season and has netted six in 10 already this time around.

He was a Euro 2024 goalscorer for Poland against Austria in the summer and scored four times as he helped Basaksehir come through the Conference League qualifiers.

Despite their overall struggles in the group stage, Piatek has netted in the games against Rapid Vienna and Copenhagen. He's 4/5 to find the net anytime here, but may be worth the extra value to break the deadlock.
