Promotion to the Premier League now looks to be a real possibility for Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys went to the summit of the Championship on Friday as they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0, and both Leicester City and Leeds United failed to win. Next up they host Southampton, knowing that their destiny is now in their own hands. Seven games to go, win them all and they are in the Premier League.

Below you can find my Ipswich vs Southampton prediction for Easter Monday, with kick off at 17:30, and the game live on Sky Sports.

Ipswich vs Sunderland Tips

  • Ipswich to win @ 7/5
  • Ipswich to win and over 3.5 goals @ 5/1

Team News

Kieran McKenna’s first XI looks incredibly strong at this moment in time and he was able to take his front four off against Blackburn, such is the strength in depth they have. Conor Chaplin got the goal on Friday from the number ten position, with Omari Hutchinson and Nathan Broadhead starting out wide behind Kieffer Moore. I’m expecting Town to name an unchanged team here.

Southampton may be more inclined to make changes after their 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough. Samuel Edozie and David Brooks could be given starts to add some flair to their wide areas, while Ryan Manning could come back in at left-back.

Match Odds

Ipswich are 7/5 to win this game, with Southampton priced at 6/4. A draw is priced at 12/5, BTTS is 1/2 and over 2.5 goals is 4/7.

Ipswich to win @ 7/5

You simply have to back Ipswich to win at every possible opportunity this season. They have been exceptional this term and now have to be considered as one of the best in the division, despite having a far smaller budget than the teams they are competing with.

Southampton have their own qualities, but I just believe Ipswich can put them to the sword on Easter Monday, in front of a raucous Portman Road. They’ve only lost once at home so far this season, won 14 of 19 on home soil, and scored a whopping 53 goals in the process. Home win.

Ipswich to win and over 3.5 goals @ 5/1

Southampton conceded an injury-time equaliser at home to Middlesbrough on Friday, and now look like they will have to settle for the play-offs. These two teams have conceded 48 and 49 goals respectively this term, and it is their attacks that have own them games this term.

As a result I believe we will get a glut of goals on Monday afternoon, with both teams capable of finding the net. If we add over 3.5 goals to the home win selection, we get a healthy price of 5/1 to back.
