The Championship’s intense title race continues this weekend with Ipswich Town the last of the top three to kick off. They’ll have a better idea of what they need from their final four games come 15:00, but they face a tricky game at home to Middlesbrough as they chase a spot in the Premier League.

Boro are unlikely to make the play-offs, but they’ve put a good run contender which has seen them give some top sides a scare. The visitors are unbeaten in eight and they head to Portman Road hoping to dent the Tractor Boys’ quest for back-to-back promotions. Read on for our Ipswich vs Middlesbrough predictions...

Ipswich vs Middlesbrough Betting Tips

  • Over 2.5 goals @ 8/13
  • Emmanuel Latte Lath to score first @ 15/2

Team News

Ipswich rotated in their 0-0 draw with Watford, but they should be back to full strength for this clash.

The likes of Luke Woolfenden, Massimo Luongo, Conor Chaplin and Jeremy Sarmiento should return to the starting line-up this weekend.

Middlesbrough have no new injury concerns, but they are set to be without eight players for this trip.

Match Odds

Ipswich are 4/5 to secure a crucial victory on Saturday afternoon, with the draw available at 11/4 and a Boro win priced at 16/5.

Town to take all three points in a game in which both teams score is an 11/5 shot.

Over 2.5 goals @ 8/13

Ipswich are coming off a couple of poor results, failing to score in a loss to Norwich and a draw with Watford. They should fare better in Saturday’s clash, which pits them against a Teessiders side who should contribute to an open game.

Boro have seen over 2.5 goals land in 71% of their away games this season, while they have scored in nine of their last 10 away trips.

While the visitors are impressive going forward, they’ve struggled to contain the top teams in the Championship. They’ve conceded 20 times across their nine visits to the top 12, with over 2.5 goals landing in all but one of those matches.

Ipswich have seen both teams score in over three quarters of their matches at Portman Road this term and they should be pulled into another entertaining, end-to-end affair in this clash. With that in mind, over 2.5 goals seems like the best option.

With Boro losing four of their seven visits to sides above them, take the Tractor Boys to edge this one.

The hosts need to return to winning ways and they’ve won 15 of 19 home clashes against sides outside the top three, with Town 7/1 to edge a 2-1 victory.

Emmanuel Latte Lath to score first @ 15/2

While Ipswich are worthy favourites, they’ve scored the opening goal in just 11 of their 21 home games, while Middlesbrough are regulars at opening the scoring on the road, with Emmanuel Latte Lath a real danger.

The forward has scored in three of his last four games, opening the scoring in all three of those matches.

Seven of his 11 Championship goals this term have been openers and the forward has now scored six times in 12 away games, so he’s great value to net the opener.
