Leicester City looked to have the Championship title and one of the automatic promotion places to the Premier League secured, but second-placed Ipswich have cut the gap on the Foxes to only three points.

There are only eight points separating league leaders Leicester to fourth-placed Southampton and, in what is shaping as a thrilling four-team battle for the title, Ipswich will be hoping to keep the pressure on their promotion rivals against Bristol City at Portman Road on Tuesday evening.

Ipswich vs Bristol City Prediction

  • Ipswich to win & over 2.5 goals @ 11/8
  • Kieffer Moore to score first @ 7/2

Team news

Scott Twine was due to resume first-team training on Monday, but the trip to Portman Road is likely to come too soon for the Bristol City midfielder.

City’s George Tanner has been ruled out of Tuesday’s trip and Matty James is set to miss a third straight game, while Kal Naismith may not be rushed into his return.

For Ipswich, long-term absentee Janoi Donacien is still on the sidelines but Jack Taylor was back on the bench for Saturday’s victory at Plymouth.

However, attacking duo Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead are both likely to miss out.

Match Odds

Ipswich are 4/7 to make it six wins on the bounce, with Bristol City 5/1 to spring a surprise and the draw available at 3/1.

Ipswich to win & over 2.5 goals @ 11/8

Ipswich have won five straight Championship matches as they continue to plough into Leicester’s lead at the top of the table and the Tractor Boys should have the beating of Bristol City on Tuesday night.

Kieran McKenna’s men have scored 44 goals at home in the Championship this season, more than any other team, and the Suffolk side arrive on a five-match winning streak.

Those victories have come against second-tier strugglers Plymouth, Swansea, Birmingham, Millwall and Rotherham, but Bristol City have hardly been in flying form.

The Robins have won only two of their last ten matches, suffering three defeats on the bounce, and that is a run which included disappointing losses at home to Cardiff and QPR.

Bristol City have kept only three clean sheets in 19 away matches this term and Ipswich, who have scored 15 goals across their last five games, should punish those frailties in a high-scoring Portman Road clash.

Ipswich to win and over 2.5 goals at 11-8

Kieffer Moore to score first @ 7/2

Ipswich are set to be without attacking talents Burns and Broadhead, which is not ideal, but in Kieffer Moore they have an able deputy and the Welsh forward in fine scoring touch.

Moore, who is on loan from Premier League Bournemouth, has hit five goals in seven games since making the move to Ipswich and he should get plenty of opportunities to bolster that tally against the Robins.
