Inter Milan vs Venezia Prediction: Hosts to win again

Inter Milan will look to extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to six matches when they entertain Venezia at San Siro on Sunday (19:45, TNT Sports 1). The hosts have won four of their last five matches in the league, including a 3-0 win at Empoli in the week.

Inter's Marcus Thuram has scored seven goals in the league this term, and he is 4/1 to open the scoring on Sunday night. Fellow forward Lautaro Martinez has four for himself, and he is priced at 4/5 to score anytime at San Siro.

Francesco Acerbi and Hakan Calhanoglu are expected back this weekend but Simone Inzaghi could opt to rest the two players ahead of a key clash with Arsenal in the Champions League in midweek.

Carlos Augusto is expected to be out until the international break, while Kristjan Asllani is back available after a recent knee problem.

With one eye on the Arsenal game, and three games in the space of a week, Inzaghi could rotate his squad for the weekend. Thuram and Martinez could be dropped to the bench for some rest, with Marko Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi waiting in the wings to start up top.

For Venezia, Bjarki Bjarkason is their only injury absentee heading into the weekend following Marin Sverko's return to action against Udinese.

Inter Milan to win to nil @ 5/6

Inter have won four of their 10 matches in Serie A to nil in 2024/25, so I think there is value to be had in backing them to win and record another shut out on Sunday.

This is because Venezia have already visited the San Siro this term to face AC Milan back in September. On that day they were comfortably beaten 4-0 and were reduced to 10 men as Hans Nicolussi Caviglia was sent off.

I can't imagine their fortunes changing inside this stadium with the form I Nerazzurri are in right now. Even if Inzaghi decides to make changes to his team at the weekend, there is still more than enough quality in his ranks to help his side collect another victory to keep putting pressure on league leaders Napoli.

Having kept Empoli at bay last time out, Inter's back line will be eager to post back-to-back clean sheets in Serie A for the first time since August, and I believe they can achieve this against strugglers Venezia. The visitors have also failed to score in three of their defeats in the league so far, so I can see them suffering a fourth here.

If Inter's attacking areas are rotated, the likes of Arnautovic and Taremi will want to have an impact, and they will fancy their chances to do just that against a side sitting in the bottom three heading into the weekend.

Yes, we might see this man rested from the start as the Italian giants prepare for a European clash with Arsenal, but I still think there is a chance we will see Thuram get some minutes on the pitch.

He's Inter's top scorer in Serie A with seven goals, and his contributions will go a long way in helping his side try and retain their league title. All his goals have come in three matches, in which he has either bagged braces or a hat-trick, which came against Torino at the beginning of October.

The French international has gone three league games without a goal and the last time that happened, he bagged his hat-trick against Torino, so I feel that a goal is overdue, and I feel it can come against Venezia on Sunday.
